I own a SmallHD with just got a deal on the Paralinx Arrow(original). I was thinking of juicing the Paralinx Arrow from SmallHD's Canon Battery mount. Anyone want to share their set-up?

1. Add a Splitter(5.5mm barrel DC, Female>2 males) from the Canon battery bracket
2. Add a Barrel Adapter to change one of the 5.5mm to 3.5mm, size of the Paralinx Receiver input.

Questions I do wonder as I do not want to damage anything.

-says the voltage coming out from the Canon battery bracket is 7.4v and the Paralinx rating its 5v... am I going to damage the unit?

The other choice I was thinking would be to get one of those USB batteries and attach it to the SmallHD monitor.

anyone have recommendations for the Paralinx transmitter... says 1amp, (I assume 5v) and you can use a much (USB->USB mini) smaller battery

Hi Jeffery.

What Smallhd monitor do you own ?

If it's the DP7. You can configure it with the DP-Pro X-Port Wireless Dock (Paralinx) module

5v out the USB on the monitor powers the Paralinx just fine. All you need is a mini USB to female USB cable to plug the USB/Pin cable into. This works on the DP4, AC7 and DP7's that we have

Are all USB to USB-Mini Cables the same?

I just wonder if I need a voltage regulator if I'm coming from the SmallHD port, I imagine that it's already rated 5v and I can any USB to USB-mini... as it isn't going to effect the draw(unless it has a regulator or amp on it)

Dan, also I think, I might need a Male to Male connection...

Would this work for the transmitter, I believe it says 1a + 5v in the manual.

Are all USB to USB-Mini Cables the same?
One would like to think so in theory, but apparently not. I have some KICK LIGHTS from Rift Labs (made in Hungary I think). None of my USB to USB-Mini Cables fit the KICK other than the cables that came with them. The USB-Mini part is just a little bit different. Other than that, I have nothing but good things to say about the KICK as an effect light. I bought my 1st one when it was a Kickstarter project. I was so impressed with it that I bought 3 more to make a 4-light travel kit. http://riftlabs.com

My 5V out on the AC7 powers it as well, but there's no loop through for HDMI so the only way to do it is to split your HDMI signal on the input. The DP4 works pretty well with loop through and powering the Arrow via USB.

If you want to power it, buy one of these ( http://store.freeflysystems.com/col...products/usb-mini-b-male-to-mini-b-male-cable ) from Freefly, I've been using the cable for over a year on a DP4 using HDMI loop through and it works great.

Awesome find Charles! That's s cool cable and will work great for the TX.

for the RX you would want the cable I linked above plus this cable :

http://www.paralinx.net/store/receiver-power-cable

if there is a demand it might make sense for us to make a Usb mini to right angle barrel for RX directly. But it's so cheap to do what I linked to and buy a few of those so that might make sense for a lot of people.

Guess you can't power the RX(receiver) with the USB input?
