Hi Dan,

I'm waiting on the next batch to hit HRC. Wish I had one in New York this weekend! Do you know of a unit anywhere here? We cannot afford the CamWave etc, this is a passion project.

About the shield... I was planning on using a right angle adapter to stick mine out of my focus puller's TVLogic. (Red SDI --> TVLogic --> Paralinx). So it sits just behind the monitor. Granted this might block the range a bit, but would you recommend against this?

Arrows will be in stock with all resellers next week.

Not sure of anyone in NYC renting them (cough cough Abel rental department?)

TV Logic does not cross convert Sdi to hdmi but I will upload pics of how I do it when using an onboard Sdi monitor.

Upcoming SmallHD DP7 does two way cross conversion and will have a special Arrow Bracket ;)

Ah, right. TVLogic converts HDMI to SDI out but not the other way around. Unfortunate.

EDIT: Researching into alternate solutions made me realize that I missed simultaneous SDI/HDMI for Epic and Scarlet, as of Version 3.3.3 in July. So the ideal setup can still be:

SDI --> TVLogic or other small onboard monitor for 1st AC
HDMI --> Thin HDMI cable --> Paralinx Shield mounted to side of top plate as an aerial to director's monitor, video village, DIT or client monitor.

Brilliant. Thanks Red and Dan...

Ryan I have one. When do you need it for? Pm me

Here is a picture of my diy set up for a steadicam shot we did for a local movie recently.

The transmitter was propped up on a "L" shaped aluminium strip and secure to the Epic with a 1/4" screw.

The receiver was attached to the back of a Sound Devices Pix 240 via an aluminium strip with 1/4" screws.

Looks really rudimentary, but works great.

We had clean uninterupted picture through out the day.

Love my Paralinx.

Dan,

Recently received my Arrow and am working out a variety of camera and TX configurations. A question:

In some situations I need an HDMI splitter at the TX end, which is also 5V powered. Would like to keep things neat and light, so want to power from the 5V regulated output from your P-tap adapter. I assume a USB powered hub might work, but do you have one to recommend that will put out the required 2A for your TX?

I'm on a shoot today, but I will post some nice pics tonight.

Paralinx SHIELD starts shipping this week, hot off the cnc.

$109 to protect your ARROW with a user replaceable hdmi port and multiple mounting points.

Where can they be ordered from?

@ john Stout:

please email me at dan@paralinx.net and we will get you set up with a SHIELD.

@Mark S.

We recommend the SmallHD HDMI splitter unit.
as for a 5V splitter cable - I'd recommend starting with one of these out of our P-Tap to USB:

Then, a USB to the right kind of plug for the smallhd...sorry sounds kind of Klugey - I'll work on figuring out a more elegant setup for you.

@daniel Stilling - you have PM.

Sorry - my PM notification did not come in.

Best,

Dan

Hey Dan, Thank you so much for your quick reply! That's why I got an Arrow. Great service!
The Shield is definately a must have. How do I sign up for one?

Dan,
Thanks for the info on the USB splitter. I'll look into it.

On another subject, I have an Anton Bauer plate with an Automatique switched P-tap. I tested the p-tap output and it appears unregulated (reads 16.4V). Tried the Paralinx TX via the P-tap cable and it worked fine today. So perhaps the voltage-regulated Panavision plates you encountered were some kind of custom job?

One more question: any word on the possibility of implementing in firmware, multiple receivers per transmitter?

I'd watch out for those plates Mark - I don't trust them.

I should have some nice news about Multiple receivers by December at the very latest for you guys. I know waiting sucks - but the wait will be worth it.

Basically it has to do with some special approvals for some special chipset things that we are doing. That's all I can say.

Hi Dan,
just some confusing for the v mount battery issue
i have the globalmedia v mount battery, there have two 14.6v p tap hole, can it plug the p tap cable which provided from arrow to the recevier or transimmter 's usb as power supply? Wll it burn the device?

And so do i have the WC v mount plate ( for RED scarlet ). There also have two P Tap hole, can it plug the down convert to 5v cable which provided by arrow paralinx?

thanksss, as i am not dare to try it.....

Hi Welby - the P-Tap cable that we include is design to regulate voltage down to 5V - so, yes it should work fine to power the transmitter or receiver with a USB to Barrel for the receiver.

Did you receive a usb to barrel receiver in your package? It is a small right angle barrel cable one side, with a usb male on the other side.

If you did not receive it, please email Greg@paralinx.net and he will get you set up with the usb to barrel, or contact the reseller who you purchased from if you need additional cables at all.

Best,

Dan
