Hi Welby - Thanks for ordering!

I will check with Hot Rod Cameras about your order.

Currently we are sold out until August.

Hot Rod Should have contacted you - please email me your order number with Hot Rod and any correspondence you have with them via info@paralinx.net and I will communicate with them to see what's happening.

Best Regards,

Dan

@ Welby - Hot Rod said they received your two emails from the middle of the night last night and will be getting back to you asap.

I'm not sure from his response when your order was placed, but they should be shipping to any backordered customers in the month of August.

Hello Dan,

Are you thinking of developping modules for your receiver?

Power & Battery module
(Reciever)
Monitoring module (including a good 5,6 or 9 inch monitor or made for one of the industry standard monitor like the TVlogic?)
Proxy recording module (hehe...)
Housing and Mounting modules
...

All that based, for exemple, on a V-lock type of locking system.

The aim is to have a "made for the job" hand held combo that would be more convinient than a whole bunch of "gaffed" stuff.

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Thank you for sharing your ideas - many of them we are already developing, and some of them are still under consideration.

For instance - much of the functionality you are looking for can be achieved with the SmallHd DP7 in conjunction with the ARROW.

We are not hoping to be all things to all people, but rather - a very good thing that attaches to everyone's kit.

Something I discovered at Panavision the other day:

At Panavision they don't really offer P-Tap as a connection option - but they did have these old Funky ENG P-Tap passthrough boxes that have an AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL for P-Tap.

This is something you should be EXTREMELY WARY OF WITH ANY ACCESSORY OTHER THAN A TUNGSTEN LIGHT.

This device is a secondary regulator which when fed into oure regulator will cause a harmonic imbalance and destroy your unit.

_DO NOT_ under any circumstance plug your ARROW power supply into an AUTOMATIQUE unit (or be sure that AUTOMATIQUE IS SWITCHED OFF AND CANNOT I REPEAT CANNOT BE TURNED ON)

Hi Dan

I ordered through creative video in the Uk. Will they be getting some Arrows with the August batch?

Best wishes

David

In case anyone was wondering...

our device transmits audio that is in sync to the picture (assuming the audio you feed it is in sync to the picture ;)

There is no compression, and the whole system has less than 2ms delay from tx to rx.

Can I use this with a 17" Panasonic studio monitor if I use an HDMI to DVI cable on the receiver end? I would assume so, but wanted to see if anyone had tried this out yet.

Hey Dan, I may be the only person that is maybe a little confused, but I've been following the thread and I've seen a lot of talk about blowing out the module if its not hooked up to the right powersupply. I was wondering if it would be possible for you to post a video with the setup that you use and recommend as well as utilizing the parts that come in the kit. I'm gonna be using it on a gig in the next month but before I spend a few days on it and risk burning it out I would love, and truly appreciate, some kind of video that discusses these topics for myself as well as other newbies that will be interested in your product. From the brief bit that I set it up and ran it the picture looked and functioned amazing. You truly have been the kind of company that I wish the best for as you have been so up front and quick to respond to every users needs or inquiries. Thanks a million in advance Dan.

Hi John,

Thanks so much for your kind words.

We want to release a video like this as soon as possible. Might be possible to do this before next week.

With any New product comes new ways of connecting things and setting them up.

One thing I can warn you about is the use of the ANTON BAUER AUTOMATIQUE Light control P-Tap port. This is a special regulated port designed for tungsten lighting on ENG cameras. For some reason they have them at Panavision. These will toast your unit.

Generally - P-Tap aka D-Tap is a great connector - but because it can easily be plugged in the wrong way when people are in a rush - that is a definite flaw.

The other thing is - people think that the receiver is powered by the USB port because the transmitter is - this is not the case - it's for firmware and possible future control solutions.

My workflow for setup would be:

Use a voltmeter to check that the polarity of your D-tap/P-Tap is wired correctly. People sometimes wire them creatively (aka wrong).
Measure the power coming from your D-Tap. Make sure there is not more than 24v coming from it for some reason.
Make sure there is not another regulator between the D-Tap and the battery. The D-tap should be "line voltage" for your battery. Double regulators=strangulators.
I'd recommend anyone buying one of these to plug it into your mains power and make sure that the blue lights come on all around. We test each one very carefully at the factory and they go through several layers of quality control.
Don't get creative with your power solution without checking with us first - a lot of people have decided to modify their power source or use their own power source, and some have even plugged 12v into the units. Whoops There goes your device.

Rest assured we are taking care of All of our customers, and we are going to be making improvements to our product line over time. We incorporate your feedback into what we are making, and we have a No User Left Behind policy - we guarantee you won't be Penalized for being an early adopter. I can't say that we can afford to be as amazingly generous as Red Digital Cinema has to its Red One customers - but we will do our darndest to make features, and improvements available to you in a way that is fair to everyone.

Stay tuned for some cool stuff to be shown around the IBC 2012 Conference. I can't say more than that now - but this is going to be a great year if you invest in PARALINX for your wireless HD needs. We understand what you need because we are Camera People first, and Technical Wizards secondly. This is a product that will be improving as time progresses, and we want the community to know how much we appreciate your interest and support.

Best Regards,

Dan and PARALINX TEAM

@ Daniel Stilling - we want you to be aware that different models of Panasonic have different capabilities in terms of what can be done over the DVI port.

Things that are not capable over a Panasonic DVI port:
waveform
some of them can do 23.98fps - some cannot.

I generally recommend connecting your camera to the dvi port of your particular monitor with your HDMI cable and adapter and seeing if it works. If it does not work - the Arrow will not make it work. I can recommend however the use of the BlackMagic Design HDMI/SDI and SDI/HDMI _Battery_ converters. These are VERY good convertors. On the camera side - the Decimator 2 is your BEST option on the market as it has so many reclocking and other features. VERY Good and I'm sure the next gen ones will be SIIICK.

Also look out for the Atomos units coming soon. Also RAD.

There will be a nice fat batch ready to go out in August.

Hey Dan, any idea how early in August we can expect these? I've got a fairly big 2-camera shoot starting the 20th and they just decided they want to go wireless, and I think a couple of these would do the job. It's either buy these or pay way too much renting some other solution.

Kyle - Please feel free to Contact Hot Rod Cameras and Abel Cine to check availability as there may be some reservations that have opened up.

I can't post any information about availability for them because its a violation of contract terms with our resellers.

There looks to be some good news about Paralinx as a Company, and our products that I (fingers crossed) will be able to share soon.
