panavision lenses

[Zakaree Sandberg]

will panavision just rent the lenses out? or are they still having a fit about red one cameras?

I need an anamorphic zoom...

any recommendations?

[Craig Parkes]

Probably depends on the individual place, and whether they have PL mount anamorphics or only PV mount anamorphics.

I have heard of Red's being Panavised, so one could assume that you can do a Red One rental with PV lenses somewhere.

Panavision will rent lenses but priority goes to entire camera packages being rented, plus anamorphics can be a high or low demand item there, it's sort of feast or famine.

Panavision in London, Warsaw, Prague all rent anamorphic lenses in either PL or PV mount to Red users. The Joe Dunton anamorphics are in the PL mount.

Anyone has the contact info of Joe? or manager ?

Put a PV mount on your Epic, they are not expensive.

When I talked to Panavision last summer it was definitely "famine" for us. The only lenses we had even a remote chance of getting (very remote at that) were the non-close focus Primo anamorphics - definitely not a zoom since those are in even shorter supply than primes (particularly the newer anamorphic zooms). Though they did suggest a much shorter schedule (a week or two) would be more doable. We had a 45-day schedule planned.
