This has probably been addressed, but a quick search of the board didn't turn up anything: Is it possible to mount Panavision lenses on a Red? Yes, I know it's not exactly in Panavision's business plan to rent lenses to Red users, but is it even physically possible to use Pana glass on a Red if a Red-Pana mount were to be fabricated? Or would there be depth issues?

It has already been done.

Has it been done as a one-off, or is it available for purchase?

So far its been a few one-off's.

Also, the P+S Technik Interchangeable Mount System for the RED One offers a Panavision mount (in addition to the other mounts: PL, BNCR, F, etc.). I believe it runs around $1100 for the system and $800 for the Panavision mount, but don't quote me, as I'm not sure. Better check yourself.

been done.. and i believe that ims mount from ps has a pv mount.. right?

Yes, the IMS does have a PV mount.

Here it is:

And here is a link to the other mount adapters for the IMS:

See those cheese head slotted screws? No professional lens mount uses anything but. No Phillips, no Torks, mayby an Allen cap screw but nothing else. Ask around.

Oh yeah and one other thing.... NEVER EVER use flat head screws for any part of two precision surfaces being located to each other. The degree of accuracy required in locating the counter bore of a flat head screw to its clearence bore to the locating part has to be so precise that any error results in the possibility of the attaching part cocking and it is not worth while even attempting it.

Flat head screws are for sheet metal or sheet rock and not much else.

Wow where did all that come from? :w00t: :)

Is "flat head" US equivalent to UK "countersunk"?

Please, don't question him. Chuck knows. Listen (read: read) and you'll learn.

Yes, Chuck knows his sh!t. And I also have to concur with him. Slotted (flat-head) screws suck, no matter the application.

Not disagreeing, just wanting clarification!

Hey Chuck, The above P&S Technik mounts use philips head screws.

Yeah but I doubt if they are flat heads.

I don't agree. Slotted screws are find when using the right tool to lossing them. Flat head screws for this particular application are not good.
