  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Panasonic LA7200 Anamorphic test

We can always just drop down to 2k and shoot with it normally then, right? I hate shooting on 2k with the Scarlet though, so much noise...
i hate shooting 4K on 5K sensor:), not as bad as 2K, but you still can see how picture is loosing that pop compare to 5K;
even though you don't loose any light with LA7200, but you definitely loose some sharpness, and if shoot 2K you'll loose even more, i never tried 2k, i should;
the lowest i tried is 3k 48fps, to my eye it's OK for the web.

At 3k, the shots James took are more than acceptable edge-to-edge, but there is some barreling at the wider end. I used optics compensation in AE to try to correct that, but it dug further into the 3k (making it more like ~2.5k). The other thing is, and I'm not sure how much this plays a factor, but at f8-16, you're going to see a lot less softening at the edges.

I don't think there is a cheaper anamorphic solution until someone like SLR-magic releases their own adapter (which is apparently being designed, but probably for m43 -- https://vimeo.com/53623079).

Agreed. If you can light for f5-8ish, this is worth the price imo. And I think its usability for daytime ext. alone makes it worth the price...
