Hi All,

I have a Scarlet-W with the Vlock I/O expander and I can't get the P-Tap to work. I'm hoping it's just something dumb on my part. I've tried a couple different devices and cables, they all work on other P-Taps just fine, using the same batteries too. (The batteries are no name Bescor and Bix Power batteries, similar shell to IDX Edura 7s types I think. They seem to power the Red just fine.) I tried taking the battery off and using AC power. I thought maybe the batteries couldn't put out enough amps to power the camera and P-Tap. No luck. The power menu shows the Batt Aux status is OK and the power out is 0.0A no matter if nothing is plugged in or something is plugged in and switched on. I restarted the camera a few times too.

I've contacted Red, but I was hoping someone here might know of a setting/hidden switch I'm missing or something I didn't think of.

Thanks!

Try sliding the little switch top left of the V lock Expander.

Hi Elsie,

Just tried that. No joy. The camera wouldn't boot up from the battery at all (is that right?) But turned on as soon as I plugged it in, which I understand is the purpose of the star switch.

Keep the suggestions coming. I'm just sitting at home rehydrating from my last shoot trying not to scratch my mosquito bites.

Thanks!

well that is not right, id contact red support immediately, i just lived off the vlock expander p-tap for a few weeks, should work without any setting changed.

well, at least you are in LA and here is where having a brain separate from the module hopefully helps too.
good luck! let us know how it goes.
