  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

"OZ: The Great and Powerful" shoots EPIC

Just have to say this, as a statement for all the doubters I have faced discussing RED over the last years.
35mm is dying, its finally happening and soon the old bastard is going to be considered the rare choice, all thanks to REDs pioneering. It’s so sweet and not one day to late, cant understand the ONE already did it but hey, the industry is a big thing to turn around for a new direction.

The digital age is finally here, thanks to you.
Cheers form a cold and rainy Sweden!

I don't get all the hostility towards a technology that has given us over a century of wonderful movies and amazing imagery. 35mm is a "bastard" and it's "sweet" that it is dying? Jeez... show the old lady some respect.

I hope we get one frame of Sam Raimi's classic posted on Reduser. He's got to hide it in OZ somewhere.

Long live film-like grain. I hope to see lots of digital films add grain into the release masters.

Film-like grain is sometimes as important as canvas texture on an oil painting.

A lot of folks said the same thing 25+ years ago about vinyl back when CDs hit. Even now with digital downloads drastically diminishing CDs sales (and music sales in general), some new releases are still being pressed on vinyl today.

For sure.

wow the new spider-man movie is shot on red epic and the ex-spider-man director is also going to shoot his next on red epic..... thats great!!!!!!!!!!
And Dear "Pontus W" dont't call film a bastard, definately its time is coming to an end but it has given us a lot for almost a hundred years, everything gets old and one day needs to retire,
when ur dad gets old and retires will you call him an "old bastard", this is highly disrespectful, shame on you man!!!!
Know this that its jim's respect for the richness and high quality of motion picture film that has motivated and allowed him to create great and magnificent tools like "Red Epic".......

Show "film" some respect,i am reduser, a red fanboy and i do................

I'm very excited to hear that "OZ: The Great and Powerful", which is shooting here in Michigan, will be using Epics! They have been building sets for the last 3 months at the new Raleigh Studios facility in Pontiac. Raleigh has 7 stages, and a grip friend of mine told me that OZ requires so many sets that once they finish shooting on one set, they will move the entire production to another stage. Meanwhile, the previous set will be torn down and a new one will be constructed in it's place. They are supposed to start shooting the first week of July, and production is expected to take until February 2012.

Amen, to the Nth

I get the excitement from the Red Community about another huge movie being shot on the Epic, but as much as I'd love to see another movie directed by Raimi and photographed by Deming (not to mention with such a great cast)....a prequel to "The Wizard of OZ"? in 3D? really?
I'll keep an open mind and check it out when it opens...in 2D....

The film and incentive scene here in Michigan is REALLLLLLLY interesting (read: a huge effing mess with sparkles of hope)

Wish Mr Raimi and my friends that have jobs on this luck!

I would rather say it is the brush-stroke. So you can be a Monet or even a Seurat (the latter perhaps if you like your ISO to read four digits:), but you can also be a Caravaggio, all with the same epic set of tools.
