  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Owners...

AWESOME Vincent! And great accompanying blog post as well. I knew it was a smart idea for Red to sell you an Epic ;)

Thanks Anthony, very kind and very much appreciated:) I really must update my reels though!

Very welcome! Are you on the list for an Epic M?

4k YouTube upload maybe Vincent?
This footage is gorgeous and I can't wait to view this on a large screen with a projector.

Will certainly help avoid the compression issues at least with upload resolution.
I for one will definitely stream it allowing my 2k cp2000 to do the scaling.
Until we get our hands on the r3d's that is :)

mine just went to work today...we did a little HDRx shooting on a high contrasty day and will process it tomorrow...i'll see if i can post a little. within the next coupla weeks, I hope to have loads of footy...

I wonder if it's worth the headache.. how many people can view the 4K??? I'm thinking of doing a 2K output and making it public... v

Oh my fucking God.

I'm sorry I can't express this without profanity. THIS is why I want an EPIC. Moving HDR pictures that equal or exceed the best stills. Why did you have to do this to me, man?! Gorgeous work but the wait until August/September just got ten times as long grrrrrr!

Mike
thank you! (and sorry for adding to your well warranted torture...)

I'm bloody poor now ;) Now I want more lenses!!!! I'm happy with one now - will definitely rent others when I need them!

Shooting a Subaru commercial in about a week with a Wescam, Scorpio Technocrane30, and Russian Arm.

Also shooting a live action/CG game trailer for a new XBOX/Playstation3 game called "PROTOTYPE 2" coming out soon.

I'll be happy with a 2k as well. Hell, even the 1080 is great!!
But just having the files in their native 4k/5k state will mean that I can really dwell in there, even if it means I just set the zoom ratio to 1:1 and really analyse the image.

I work as a technologist and constantly have to make sure people I deal with understand what's happening with the compression before showing them web video uploads. Most often than not, their interpretation of the file and the issues that they might spot are wrong. Many people can rarely understand or wrap their heads around red code compression and h264/x264 compression, esp where I am from.

But seriously, thanks for sharing. It's guys like you that help take the fear element out of the entire excersise by proving time and again that it's just a matter of learning the tools :)
