Hi everyone

i took my Lucy (#4248) out for a test yesterday here in australia. It was around 33degrees celcius and i tried to keep the camera in shade all the time. I set the cooling fans on "hot" mode.
After around 30 minutes the camera became pretty hot though.
Is it common for the RED ONE to become quite warm ? how do you guys work around that ? Im thinking of attaching some cooling fans like the ones used in computer cases to get some airflow around the camera going.
Any tips greatly appreciated :)

thanks

It's the REDONE, because it's smokin HOT :)
..use Ice packs, shades, c-stand w flag, umbrella

It'll become quite warm. Don't worry - 33 degrees should be fine, but keep it shaded if you're worried.
The camera will warn you if it's getting too hot, and shut down if it needs to.
The only overheating issue I've seen on a Red One is from a bad power cable.

i was thinking of cooling pads too. those blue gel packs.

really so the camera actually warns you n shuts down ? i wasn't sure yesterday and the body got really really hot that's why i stopped. thanks for the help.

Ah, gotta love that Queensland heat and humidity. Another thing to watch is to try and avoid moving rapdily from cool, air-conditioned indoor environment to hot, humid outoor environments as this runs the risk of fogging and condensation build-up on your lens and and your EVF.

If you've got your Red stored in an air-conditioned office in say a Pelican case, move it (camera in case) to your vehicle or a non-airconditioned room a few hours before your shoot to let your kit gradually adjust its temperature to the shooting environment. I keep my cameras in a non-airconditioned room so they are good to go at short notice. Have fun with your Red, it rocks!
