Hi all,
I have been playing around a bit with R3Ds and After Effects. On some of the shots, I have areas blowing out (in Redspace), and I want to recover them. From what I understand, I can't recover them using any color correcting tools within After Effects, as all my values are clipped at 1.0. Only way to brin them back is to go into the RED importer, lower to exposure, and then continue to work. This isn't really ideal, as I would like to use the benefits of a high dynamic range and the power of After Effects. Also a histogram is missing in the RED importer, so how do I know where to set the exposure? Is it trial and error?
One more thing, say I just want to take down my overbrights but keep the rest of my look. Usually I would do this with a levels or curve adjustment, but now I'm stuck with the exposure. So what kind of curve do I apply to get the rest of my footage back as it looked?
