My current set-up for handheld on my Komodo is two wing grips. I haven't shot for an extended amount of time yet. I was wondering if those of you who have the Outrigger Handle find it worth the purchase for extended handheld shooting sessions? Also, I just bought a bag which fits the Komodo perfectly with the two handles. How much further does the outrigger extend its width (with the wing grip on one side)? thanks

I have not really used the Outrigger handle but I did get the Clutch control grip which ergonomically is great
and might functionally be equally great if I can get the firmware app for programming the button wheels to work better.
You have to make sure to buy with a special adapter for RED cameras but it generally works well.

UPDATE: Apparently the PC version of the app is more reliable compared to the Mac version as the Clutch handle settings were able to get saved once I ran it in Windows.
Developer said they are working on a web version of the app.

Whatever the case the handle works great.

I picked up the Outrigger Handle last month and it definitely makes longer handheld takes more stable. On my rig with one wing grip attached, it adds roughly three to four inches of width on that side, so you’ve got a bit more leverage. For shoots over an hour it’s a solid upgrade to ease wrist fatigue.

Thanks. So roughly 8"-9" in width with wing grip and outrigger?

I'm using the wing on the right with a 3D printed handle that wraps over the wing and keeps everything close to the body. Not a fan of wide handles and steering wheel setups. Without the zoom lens and EF adapter this setup is only 4.5 pounds. Really looking forward to the Sigma 17-40mm as it's half the weight of the Kippertie/Tokina combo.

Good Luck

That’s an interesting setup Howie.
I like the 3D printed handle over the wing grip idea.
You might have a product there.

What type of USB-C cable are you using for connecting to the Phone? It looks durable.

The 17-40 looks promising. The Sigma 18-35 is great but it’s like a brick

It's from the very easy to pronounce JSADZKJ Store on Amazon. I'm still looking for the right locking one but haven't had any luck yet. The phone cage requires a rather long usbc right angle.

Good Luck

Eight versions later I'm really happy with the side handle. With the angle of the grip the camera sits very comfortably in front of one's sternum, for my vision this is perfect. If you'd like to try it out the 3d printable file it can be located here.

Good Luck
