Hey Guys,

New to red and have placed my deposit on the Red Raven. I have shot Red many times but first time buying, upgrading from the FS700.

Hopefully I can get some help with a few questions. This is what I will be purchasing with the camera. Please let me know if you disagree with anything:

- Red Raven I/O kit.
- Additional 240GB Card (might add more over the months)
- 2 x V-Mount batteries. (No idea which yet. A million options. Open 2 LightPro ones already. Please chime in.
- Red Station Mini-Mag reader.
- Tiffen Pro Indie HV ND kit. (It seems quite cheap. Would love not to pay $2k in ND filters.)
- x accessories
- A-box adapter
- LW 15mm Bracket
- Easy Rider
- Easy Top

So some of my questions are:
- What V-mount batteries are the go these days? Would love to run my Odyssey 7q off it too.
- Is that enough cards to start with?
- Are the Tiffen filters good quality?
- Is there any other accessories manufactures such as x selling anything yet for the Raven?
- Anything obvious that I have missed?

120GB card + 240GB card should be more than enough

look into switronix.com for batteries, i like them a lot

look into the thunderbolt mini mag reader by G-drive

Tiffen are good, are you going with 4x4?

these are accessories i am getting

WC Hybryid 19mm studio baseplate: $500
MOVCAM DOVETAIL + SHOULDER PAD : $271
MOVCAM CONTROL HAND GRIP: $144
Control Cable ARRI TRIGGER: $250
MOVCAM ROSETTE HAND GRIP : $76
TILTA EXTENSION ROSETTE PAIR: $80
WC CROSSBAR: $250
WC TOP PLATE RAVEN: $599
WCEASY RISER: $160
WC LW 15mm bracket RAVEN: $140
RED DSMC2 Lemo Adaptor B: $195
NOGA Cine Arm DG Hold-it Arm: $129
ET WEAPON mini Side Plate: $150

the list is evolving. Im gonna wait tho, prob till NAB (also i have a red already so i have mix and match cords and accessories)

Cool sounds like im on the right track then. Ill be getting the 4 x 5.65 filters. Have a few already. Might as well keep that size going.

Those batteries look very cool. Love all the info they give you. Any idea how many use need to shoot a 10 hour shoot? I know thats a tough one.

Also, with the top handle that come with the package, do you know if that will be in the way of the monitor of behind it? Towards the front of the camera.

i would recommend 4 batteries, maybe 5 if you plan on using an external monitor, or recorder. Soon they will announce their "slim" batteries, at any rate I'm gonna wait

the monitor thing is why I'm going with the lemo adapter kit, gets the monitor off to the side, i hope the top handle is good, otherwise ill need another one

Can you explain to me what you need to get the monitor off the camera and on a strong arm? Its all quite confusing at the moment.

i have to say, my opinion only, i think the red touch monitors are for controlling the camera only and not operating with, there is too much going on around the image and in the past, the monitors arent even very accurate, that being said i dont think you can live without one either, controlling the camera from the touch monitor is the quickest and best and easiest way to go. id personally suggest keeping it where it is, or mounting it from the side towards your AC, then using an external monitor(maybe a 7 inch) or an EVF to operate with.

I have an odyssey 7q OLED display that i currently use. I think ill continue with that.

Yah plan is to eventually have the touchscreen and an evf

And that DSMC2 Lemo Adaptor definitely takes away from the sleekness of it all. Looks like an after thought.

What was the ipad holder for? Running the app that communicates with the camera?

Just as a heads up for outfitting the Raven.

A lot of people are upgrading to weapons and are getting certain accessories I think most Weapon owners are not going to like. I predict this will create a resale value on those items much like what the Quad Battery Module experienced when the Epic came out.

If you are interested in any of those bits and pieces, I'm willing to bet you'll be able to pick them up pretty cheap once everybody gets their cameras and is able to buy the accessories they really want.

I'm guessing the base expander and the XL module are going to end up on the second hand market, brand new, for a very good price.
