  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Out of 4-5 years of camera investment, what was your best investment?

Movi M10

Mamiya prime sets including 300mm 2.8 and 400mm 4.5 and sigma art prime sets.

To ME<==

the best was Inspire pro 1 that I just bought. (I spent about 8000$ including batteries/ FPV[Second camera], follow focus, and olympus prime lenses)

God... some people just talk about dynamic range, and 8K all kind of thing.

Within 5000$ super cheap music video/ 4 men crew. I'd choose one drone + small camera + Still lens than choosing 8K ikegami/ Red weapon + Arri master prime sets.

Shocking and shocking.

Best investment for me by far was my canon c300. Bought it used for 4500 bucks last year. Has turned almost 40k in rentals. c300mk ii paid off twice over in 4 months. Love it.

Minu, is that autoexposure pumping throughout the drone shot or is that Vimeo getting whacky? I had to reject drone footage from one of the Inspire Cameras (might have been the 1) because it looked bad when intercut between RED/Alexa footage but I was always skeptical that it was actually the crew and the settings they chose because exposure was always adjusting and the trees/foliage just buzzed like crazy. I tried not to blame the camera because I wasn't there for the shoot and didn't see how they set it up.

For me personally, the best investment was the Red One. It opened a tremendous amount of doors for me, and somehow continues to make me money to this day (surprisingly).

The little BMPCC paid for itself in one job, not too bad of an investment either and for what it is, a fun little camera.

Steve,

Yes it was human error. I put speed priority mode, and that makes everything "screwed", in a way.

Good news is that My editor says, he could fix it some way.
I actually had the dji focus to adjust the aputure, but wtih lack of the time and crew, we only had two operator for the drone.

somehow the manual mode wasnt stable at that moment.

I think, eventually i will fly my scarlet or raven on the sky within a year... Main idea is that once you fly you really see something different. Its like you have seen the Technocrane in the first time.

note: I still think red MX series colors are some what better than dragon in my eyes. Red one colors are so beautiful in my eyes

Cool, I figured it was probably a settings thing. I agree that drones offer some possibilities that didn't exist or were hard to achieve with other technologies. I took a class recently and was surprised how quickly I picked it up. Mastering it will take me a while, but I was surprised how easy it was to at least get going.

The Red One is like the old veteran player who can still come off the bench and deliver a homerun, but the young guys are getting most of the playing time. It will be interesting to see what Graeme has up his sleeves with RedWideGamutRGB and how much we might be able to go back to Red One footage and dig even more out of it. Not expecting miracles but it might be interesting to see.

Nice shots by the way!

Epic M. But I believe because at the time it was so unique and ahead of the game that rental etc was solid and it could do so much that it definitely opened doors. World has changed a ton in those 5 plus years though. Red still blazing a trail tech wise, but what Sony is doing with the A7 series points to something very desirable ahead for power in a teacup. Too bad the Leica SL is such a bummer on DR etc....
