Over the past month, those of us over at Brumar Films have been plugging away to try and raise money for what will be our first Scarlet-X short film. The movie entitled The Hardest Six has been a passion project for me over the past 10 years, and surrounds the world of high-school wrestling. This 25 minute movie is sure to be a hit with not only members of the wrestling community but with anyone else who enjoys good story telling. We have a great crew lined up to work on this project, and we have already secured funding for the companies new Scarlet to be used. Working in conjunction with crew over at Get-Kinetic, we will be mixing in their Epic-X for added touches of high-speed shooting.

In order to raise funds for location rentals, crew and actor rates, and other associated costs (which everyone here is familiar with) we have started a website to collect donations and also provide a running production diary for the movie. To date we have raised $1,925 with 14 days remaining to reach our goal of $14,500. I would greatly appreciate any help to spread word about this film and the fundraising effort. The reaction so far from the Maryland wrestling community has been great, and the wave of emails I have been receiving reassures me that this movie needs to be made. Thanks for reading this and if you want to learn more, check out the video below and our official web site for the movie wwwHardestSixMovie.com

You should use Kickstarter. It will be easier to raise money.

Brandon, definitely considered that route and we still may depending on how things work out. But this is a first attempt doing it independent of Kickstarter and avoiding their high fees. Nearly 10% between Kickstarter and Amazon payment seems high considering that the responsibility still falls on me to drive traffic to their site. So we shall see.

If you start a Kickstarter campaign I'll donate. I've backed a lot of Kickstarter projects. PayPal isn't doable for me unfortunately. Good luck with the project Martin.

Brandon and Joel, thanks for the comments. I will definitely keep everyone posted once we get into shooting this puppy.

I've updated the fundraiser back to a traditional style, we raise what we raise, and there is no time limit. I've got to make due with what I've got. Old rules still apply to those that already donated. One fun side note: The local news paper will be doing a story about the movie to help raise more funding, but the article wouldn't have been printed in time for our original deadline.

Anyone interested in helping build awareness for this movie, hop over to Facebook and drop a "Like" on our wall. As the post says, this will be a Scarlet-X shot film, so everyone here has to at least Like that. :) Thanks for reading.

I'm happy to update everybody by saying that we just wrapped on shooting of my 32 minute short film. While I am still elbows deep in finishing the final edit, I have posted the official trailer for viewing. Please take a moment to check it out. Constructive criticism is welcomed.
