Greetings all--
I am looking for some suggestions.... we are a shooting an HD film on Red. It has extensive visual effects. It is looking incredible, but there is one sequence we are struggling with today....
There is an aerial shot of a horizon, and an actor flies up to the camera, floats in a medium CU for 3 seconds, then zooms away. Everything looks great besides the floating portion. It doesn't look convincing.
Firstly, we failed to put enough of a breeze thru the actor's hair during the green screen shoot (last shot of a long day). The hair is almost stagnant.
But, I am not sure that is the issue. I other things such as Motion's Movement blur and tracking the background with the actor's subtle movements. These help, but the shot is still lacking. There must be some other tools, tips, and tricks out there. Seems like I may be missing something simple...or maybe not so simple.
How important is the hair movement and what have you guys done to make this general type of shot believable?
If we were to reshoot, what more can we do it help post?
Oh, one more thing -- The actor is a Cirque du Soleil trained dancer and she was doing subtle "floating effect". This helps greatly.
I have FCP, Motion, Maya, and 3DS Max in my arsenal.
Many thanks!
Steve
