  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Oscar Nominations 2013

I certainly may have been thoroughly irritated by the film by the time the bar scene came. It's hard to be objective if you dislike the film. But you're right it may have suited the mood, I guess it just didn't suit mine at the time. :)

What's everyones opinion on the best looking feature ever shot on Epic? Im finding a lot of haters on Red cameras amongst colorists and DP's in Hollywood.... which as the owner of two Epics is a bummer.

Lots of good movies this year didn't get nominations. I'm not just talking films shot on Red this year. The Master was shot on frikkin 65mm, as partly TDKR. Oh well, I guess the Academy knows better, than some nobody.

I was thoroughly underwhelmed by the cinematography in Skyfall. IMHO it was very bland, no interesting angles, no specialy beautifull lighting, very flat actually. Specially the scene where they reveal the new offices underground, everything was just flooded with light, nothing dramatic, no atmosphere, just flat.... That was a great lost opportunity to enhance the architecture there... Not very inspired, again it's just my opinion.

Can't believe Lincoln was nominated for 12 awards. I mean I can believe it, it's the "Oscars", but I still can't believe it. Daniel Day Lewis was great, not Lincoln.

As for Life of Pi, that was a beautiful film. I would pick Life of Pi over Skyfall for best Cinematography.

Lincoln is directed and photographed very well.

Prometheus was def up there for me. EPIC landscapes...

Incorrect on the bar scene.
Well at least it was on purpose ;) I still didn't care for it though.

Why The Master wasn't nominated for Best Cinematography, Best Director, or even Best Film remains a mystery..... oh wait.... it's the Academy

I'm going to see Rust N Bone tomorrow, maybe that?

Have these haters seen "Winters Bone", "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", "Social Network", "Blue Valentine", or "Beginners". All beautiful movies shot on RED.
