Hi,
Is there a way of recreating a RD3 folder for a single orphaned R3D file.
Thanks
Tanya

Clipfinder has a "Make RDC directories" function, as well as making QuickTime proxies if you need to do it to multiple files.

Thanks Guys,

Yohance I tried creating a new folder (with the same name but with RDC Ext) This did not work and would not import into FCPs log and transfere, I got the following error message ------Clip contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure, please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media-----

Nick I tried the find clips function in clipfinder (probally shouldent have done it) and all
my folders and apps opened up at once flooding my desktop(quite scary).
Please Nick would you explain the steps to "Make RDC directories " in detail.
Thanks
Tanya

You simply choose "Make RDC directories" from the "Tools" menu, and choose the root directory containing your orphaned R3Ds.

But all it does is create directories with the correct name. If you did that manually and it didn't work, maybe your R3D file is corrupt. Does it open in REDcine-X?

I don't quite understand what you did. I can't see a "find clips" function. If you mean "Search for missing clips" that is the equivalent to FCP's "Reconnect media". You use it if media has been moved to a new location and you are opening an old Clipfinder project, for example.

Hi
Sorry meant "search for missing clips"
No the RD3 file doesnt open in Redcine-x but opens in Redalert and Redrushes.
I dont have "Make RDC directories" in tools menu. cant find it any-where.
Tanya

Not opening in REDcine-X doesn't bode well for the file.

I realise that "Make RDC directories" may have been introduced with Clipfinder 2.5. As I said, it only automates something you can do manually anyway.

How did you end up with an orphaned R3D file?

Relationship between files and folders

Relationship between files and folders

Hi,
The R3D file came that way,( I downloaded it).
I know that files and folders must be kept intact but wanted to try and repair its host folder like you can with HTML folders and thier respective files.
The strangest thing is that if I pop it in another working folder (with a respective file) it works but it is seen as part the same clip.
Also I noticed that both R3D files folders seem locked.
Just trying to understand the relationship between file and folder, must have too much time on my hands.
Thanks Tanya.
