Ordering Tilta MB off e-bay?

[Chris Weatherly]

Anyone have experience ordering a Tilta matte box off of e-bay? I've been looking at the Tilta MB-T12 4x5.65 Carbon Fiber Matte Box and it sells for $535 directly from China. Of course you can be charged customs taxes. Or you can order them from B&H for $700. I'd rather save the money, but just want to know if it's worth the hassle of ordering overseas.

Any idea what the customs tax would be?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Do it. Works perfect

I did order one off of e-bay. When I opened it up there were some scratches on the front of the MB and several of the clamp on adapters. So I sent it back. It would have worked fine, but if it showed up in that condition I figured it would scuff up pretty easily during use.

I think I'll just save up for a trusted brand name MB.

I just got one from eBay myself. Nice matte box for the price thats for sure.

That's how I got mine, also I didn't get charged anything for customs... Just jinxed myself for the future maybe

I ended up with an $18 customs bill. I'm in Canada though so I would have customs from B&H too. How you liking the matte box?

It's not bad, and feels solid. I don't use it much anymore since I got the same one with the swing-away to speed up my lens changes.
