  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I got a pair too, at the Hollywood Oakley store at the Kodak center. They rock!

They should be FS at the Red store as well....
 
I was diggin the Tron Edition ones until I say they were $30 more...
 
Is it just the RealD/Intru3D or does it magically cover IMAX too of is it just IMAX? The link again just mentions RealD. Need a set with swappable lenses for IMAX. I'm watching Tron in IMAX today would've been cool to rock some decent eyewear.

The Polaroid ones are just RealD I think but are only £30, be interesting to see the difference.
 
Won't work with IMAX, which uses a linear polarization scheme. These work with RealD. I don't know what other standards they will work with, if any. Dolby (the other major player out there) uses circular polarization as well, but I don't know if the glasses are interchangeable -- never tried it.
 
They wont work with Capt EO as it's linear as well. They also won't work with Xpand theaters like the Archlights. Or any of the current active shutter TV's.

I don't think Dobly uses any type of pola on their white screen installations but they do use xpol on that tricked out Hyundai monitor they make.

They will work with all the new passive xpol TV's that are about to hit the streets.
 
Yes nice in deed, at list now at venues wit RealD we have a choice of avoiding the crappy glasses given at the Cinemas.

Price is not bad either, I originally spent $2,500 on one dozen pairs of AS glasses for my S3D system.

Too bad that there is too many standards as usual... I would had preferred an open system were one Glass ware works for all,
but obviously is asking too much ;)
 
cheap TV = expensive glasses
Expensive TV = cheap glasse.

after enough of your kids break them or "customers" steal them the active shutter owners expense pretty much evens out with the more expense passive TV's.

Pick your poison. Spend more now or spend more later.....

I have my preference when it comes to TV's.
 
I still think we'll be looking back on pictures of people wearing sunglasses while watching movies with a sense of nostalgia one day.

if someone comes up with a pair of 3D glasses which have prescription lenses they might make a small fortune as I have to wear mine underneath the 3D glasses....most annoying

Cheap TV + cheap glasses coming very soon. Wait outside Costco, no further comment...

Now one has to wonder if they're using an electronic switching pola mask or if it will be fixed polarization on alternating lines, which JVC / Hyundai have already been shipping via the 46" LG/Hyundai panel. If the new TVs jump right onto full-frame switched pola and avoid the interlaced crap, then consumers will jump right on it. Otherwise, it will just be another compromise to do away with active shutter glasses while we all wait for the next models...
