  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Optitek Nikon Prolok for EPIC - shipping yet?

Oh that is awesome. What are your thoughts about them? What is the breathing like? how is the bokeh compared to pl lenses?
Yes! Any shots you care to share with us would be amazing. I have heard great things about the Nikkor G lenses and I want to hear more from film makers and professionals before I pull the trigger and order a set.
 
It's easy enough to test yourself. For breathing, etc. us a Nikon Camera with video feature.
For bokeh, sharpness, color rendition take some still photos and look at them.
Epic won't look any different than a 12mpix Nikon stills.
The "general" tests are generally useless. The only tests that matter are those done with specific job in mind commissioned by the visionaries the director and the DOP.
Only they know the specific look they are after...

Does anyone have a suggestion for a mattebox? Unfortunately the 24, 35, 50 and 85 are 77mm, 67mm, 58mm and 77mm sized threads respectively. I guess they will all need their own special rubber donut.
 
Andrew, Duclos Lenses make 80mm front adapters that will make all the lenses fit an 80mm mattebox.
 
also you could consider a still spec 4x4 MB- none of the primes should require more to cover.
