  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OptiTek Nikon ProLock in stock. Electronic upgrade!!!!

+1 Aleksander
Also curious about that new electronic mount. Why is it preferable over the to be released Red version. Have manual and AF Nikkor glass.

I was asking about Nikon electronic mount that you are talking about in this thread.
Actually this thread is primarily to let everyone know that the Nikon ProLock for Epic/Scarlet is officially out of back order. In stock and shipping.
The electronic mount/electronic upgrade will be available before the year's end. First we need to send to RED for approval so we can mount it on the camera .

In stock and ready to ship!!!

Jacek, from your development process of the drive by wire FF system, can you say if we can expect smooth focusing with nikkors and adjustable "barrel throw"?

Very smooth and repeatable. Plus rotation expansion/compression, direction change, etc..

Sounds great!

Ideas that you probably thought of already:
Make it easy to power it, and to physically combine the ff with various lcd screens/evf options.
Single operator mount to camera and/or assistant handle for focus puller.
Hard stops.
Possible physical placement close to redmote or sidehandle to allow for autofocus overrides etc.

Post a list of Nikkors that have no or little image shift.

Great minds think alike!!!!!
BTW we have more in stock today.
The non electronic version ofcourse!!!!

Combining the wireless FF with Optitek's wireless video solution would be stellar.

Sonar-type distance meter (a la cinetape or microtape) would also be a big help.

Do you guys know about a sonar that could be mounted on the camera with a remote wireless display?
All the units I know of have displays built in..

Wim, this one's easy: if you want anything to do with maintaining manual iris control on your Nikons....then you'll want to have a look at the OptiTek mount...since it is both Manual & Electronic--The NEW Optitek "electronic" mount that is....RED is making their own which I'm sure will be killer, but some of us (i can actually only speak for myself) need manual control as well....RED's mount wil not offer manual control according to a post by Jarred some months ago when i had asked him. I want BOTH.....

Precisely Johnny:thumbsup:
also pretty soon you'll retire your mechanical follow focuses, Preston, Bartech, etc.
At least for when you use Nikon lenses...

A Cinetape with a PLC electronics wireless add on. Many assistants use that to have the read out right on their preston (or whatever other FF) handset.

I think the times of data wireless transmitters fancy packaged at $2800 are over. range finders for $7000 are over as well BTW.
Nuts... $10000 for a wireless range finder. I'm in the wrong business apparently:devil:

Question Marks!!!! Jacek, i'm not happy with how focus pulling is no most still lenses....so you'll have to give up some more info.....Of course each lens is different and the zooms are really bad to do any follow focus...
Please more info.

I'm just trying to help. You asked where you could find something and I knew the answer... Didn't mean to upset you...

I doubt you upset Jacek....or that he was trying to be offensive....I think he's more "matter of fact" But has a point....and at least you got the ball rolling.

Hey Jacek,
Is the upcoming electronic mount an upgrade of the current ProLock or a completely new model?

Not at all Daniel:thumbsup: This is a gold mine. Thank you!!!
Johnny as the concrete info is available I'll let you know. You know you are on top of my list...
David we are working on an upgrade deal- no worries...

Hi Jacek.

I think what you are working upon is a very interesting option I might choose till I am able to get the PL mount.

One thing though.
Pls update the website with info, pics and mounting options etc so we can see the fruit of your hard work.

Thanks
