Hello.

I’m starting this thread as an offshoot to a posting started by fellow reduser Meryem Ersoz (“An Offer to Disgruntled Filmmakers Who Feel They Missed Out on a Cheap SCARLET…”). If you thumb through that thread you’ll find an extended posting where I describe myself and my project. I thought about reposting that, but my wife cautioned me to use brevity (no surprise) – and she’s right.

So here it goes.

I’m a filmmaker, based in Denver, CO and I’m looking to get my first feature film off the ground. Disgruntled? Maybe. But I’m ready to do something about it.

I’ve written an evocative and highly visual psychological thriller (“Teddy Boy”): in essence, a rising tennis star becomes entangled in a savage charade with a grieving middle-aged couple while staying in their picturesque mountain home where betrayal ultimately leads to redemption. It’s very much along the lines of Roman Polanski's "Knife in the Water," Haneke's "Funny Games", or that odd duck in the Woody Allen canon, "Match Point."

I’m putting some skin in the game and instead of buying a red, putting that money toward the other elements of production that are critical to a successful film.

Why am I posting here?

Because I’m looking for like-minded people who are interested in creating opportunity rather than waiting for it. People who are interested in creating a damn good film.

What do we need?

We have commitments for some gear/lights but, at this point, anything would be welcome. To name a few: Crew, Casting assistance, Colorado mountain home, tennis court, sailboat, pontoon boat, craft/food, a mountain lion (yes, a mountain lion), post services, etc.…

Before you commit yourself to the project – please ask yourself: what can this production do for me? Whatever that may be – adventure, opportunity, etc. – I’d like this be a two way street. You need to get something out of it. It may not be money but I like to think that everyone will get paid back, one way or another.

Interested?
(I hope so.)

Hey Sean,
I'm Denver based with a lot of connections in the industry and some great camera gear. Let me know how I can help.

Thanks, Bryant - got it!

Me too, Sergio :)

Just to be clear - I'm not asking people to work for free. You cannot lock people down for 24 days and expect that. We all have rent to pay. As someone who freelanced as an AD I would never do that. It's just too difficult.

But I would work at a very reduced rate if I thought the project was interesting.

Btw - I couldn't be happier by the response, referrals, and suggestions that have been emailed to me directly.

Thank you.

Keep'em coming.
