Is there a way to fire up a dsmc2 camera without a RED screen and send overlays to an external sdi or hdmi monitor as a temporary solution. Or any way to enable wifi control without a RED monitor. Stuck on a shoot without a monitor :(

Have also put a thread in the rental section to see if we can locate and hire a monitor for tomorrow and possibly Monday too. We are in the West Midlands, Birmingham UK.

Any help and guidance would be very much appreciated.

Thanks Bob,

Could you quickly run me through how to use the toolkit?

Cheers,

Surinder.

You will need the Presets Folder and the v6.x contents.

From the Notes:

DSMC/DSMC2 Preset Files July 28, 2016

The procedure will apply a preset file to the camera on startup.

1) Insert a formatted SSD MAG into the REDstation and creata a 'force_preset' folder
2) Unzip the file and locate the required preset file.
3) Copy the required preset file to the 'force_preset' folder.

NOTE: Ensure you have selected a file from the correct camera version folder.

4) With the camera OFF, install the SSD Mag and power up the camera.
5) The camera will recognize the preset file, apply it and delete the folder.

Just a note, I found the v6.3 HDMI/SDI presets didn't work on my Epic-W, but was able to get it to work by creating a keymap preset that mapped keys to cycle SDI/HDMI modes using the Key mapper tool in the DSMC toolkit and doing a force_preset with that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it possible to do this through the sidekick if you have one on the camera?
