Exporting some keys I pulled off 5K R3D's in AE, or at least attempting to. Here's my issue:
If I use OpenCL to help accelerate the render the quality of my footage drops to an unacceptable level. If I leave OpenCL off & do the render everything looks great but it takes about 20 years.

What am I missing here?

Using CS5.5 on OSX 10.8.3

Yeah, I'm pretty confused by this issue David. Any time I use OpenCL it's almost as if it drops the quality to quarter no matter what I have in my render settings. I got everything rendered out last night so it's not really negatively affecting this project but it sure would be nice to maximize my hardware for future projects.

With my NVIDIA card should I not be using OpenCL & rely on CUDA, is that even a selectable setting? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just now getting back into AE after a long layoff & am playing catch-up with all these settings.

CS 5.5
iMac 3.4 Quad-core i7
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB GDDR5
32GB Ram
OSX 10.8.3
5K Comp
Native R3D's

Ok, now I am really confused. I reread your post while I am more awake. First off CS 5.5 Premiere Pro doesn't support OpenCL. But I see you are using AE. AE doesn't use OpenCL at all in any version. What setting specifically are you setting?

Thanks

Dave

David,
Yeah see about that OpenCL thing, um, it would appear that it was actually an option for OpenGL. Time to go get some glasses.

So about CUDA...

Everything is using CUDA from what I read the NIVIDIA GTX 860 is a great card for Resolve they said. I used open cl with Vegas pro and had to get a better card with CUDA and its works. Are you using the PCI express 3.0 slot and is your power watts on the pc 300w or above?
