I want to use Redcine to open, make and apply a simple onelight and then save EACH clip in a given format..how can this be done? I can't seem to figure it out.

steps I need help with:

1 getting redcine to save EACH clip in a project with it's own ORIGINAL name plus the file extension example: if I have 1017_c041_080705_0074.r3d then I want a COPY of that file IN MY EDITING FORMAT that would read:1017_c041_080705_0074.mov
Can this or can't this be done? if it can how? if not is this on the roadmap?

I am 100% cineform at this moment, why does the export to cineform MOV files not work at all my other thread here: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=16206

I can't use the camera the way this is working out, even if I get a render started with ALL the clips going out as one huge single file it will crash in during export so it's totally un-stable as far as I can tell.

Help needed.

thanks

or better yet a manual I can read up on RedCine?

XP pro, quadcore HP, quicktime 7.5 redcine 3.12 build 15 lots of formats 2k ANA 4k etc etc

Redcine has never really been stable. Hopefully when there is a release build 16 Red will focus on their software apps.

wow it's very unstable ..at this point I don't think I can even think about using it professionally. :(

I don't know if it's the machines I've been using or what, but REDCINE has been flawless for me. There are some rules to follow,

1. don't mix resolutions on a timeline
2. Keep each RCN to a minimum of clips (I do one RCN per mag)
3. Clean up any false starts or error files by deleting them or trimming them.
4. Using the export function that gives you separate folders and individual file names is the safest. (ie: "EVENT#Z/#F#S.mov")

I LOVE REDCINE!!!! (and REDALERT)
Use it on every shoot I work on.
Is it Stable yes, with issues time to time but I find it later that its just a work around that I have to understand not necessarily a bug.
Just a design i have trouble mastering.

IT IS SO BAD ASS that you have to know what the hell your doing.
You cant just pick it up and figure it out.
i mean you can some things but DAMN its crazy.

I believe with proper training that most of your issues and problems with REDCINE can be fixed and minimized to a positive workflow.

REDCINE RESET is a friend of mine i use him every shoot.

and be sure to watch all the tutorials on REDCINE
they help a lot.

You must be on Mac?

Rock solid for me too. I don't think it's ever crashed. I've come across the frozen frame issue from time to time but a simple reinstall fixes it.

I'm definitely on a Mac and this is why! ;-)

you don't think frozen frames are an issue? Does that mean you have to reinstall everytime you get a problem?

never had any use for RC but on set quick check of footage. ON PC, it's total crap for me....wish this was not the case.....can't save files, any format, all types of crashing/freezing on ALL machines, tried about 6 at this point, ALL PC, and it's almost as slow as rendering 3d!!!!

I would guess that all the happy customers are on a mac.

obin - we are totally WINDOWS here and the REDCINE software is going great.

what graphics card are you using?
what version of RC are you using?
what is the specs of your machine/s?

Sounds like you're not entering the file out string correctly. Filename specification should be: #F.mov

Re. stability: I'm running on Windows XP pro with solid performance in RedCine. I use Scratch mostly, but Redcine rarely crashes for me during testing and a bit of use here and there.

Certainly an issue, but easy to spot, easy to fix and happens rarely.

Reinstallation takes about 30 seconds.

I'm very used to workarounds and this one is minor.

If there has to be a issue, I'm glad it's that!

maybe it's a vista issue? I have been running on vista and XP both....

Vista is not supported by RedCine or Scratch. There are serious issues in Vista that prevent the software, at this time, from being supported on that platform.

Graphics card is also a vital ingredient. In WinXP PC land I suggest a Geforce 8800 based card as your best bet for performance and stability.

cheers,
