Thought I would share this little "one take" style gimbal shot that was my first shoot with my MG Weapon.

I had the beauty of a camera running on a Ronin for this shoot. We did the one take about eight times, my arms/back were toast by the end, next time I need some kind of gimbal support for that many takes. Its crazy to think how much more I have dialed in my gimbal setup since this shoot (ronin MX upgrade, RT motion focus, jetpack SDI, WC cords, GDU 25mm and 40mm). This year I plan to really nail some amazing shots like this again for Aspen/Snowmass! With the magical RTmotion tech I will be able to shoot some wide open takes and hopefully keep things in focus, should be really fun. Going to take some ninja skills to ski with gimbal and focus, but I think I have already acquired those skills:) At least until I acquire the tech to get RT motion on a second opp wireless monitor.

Shot a bunch of time lapses and beauty shots for the rest of their campaign if you want to check it out here: http://bit.ly/2dK0wQw

For fun here is a better idea of how the one take ran before it got chopped:

Totally killer!!!
Even if you are skiing on corduroy groomed runs - aspen is all black diamond and up so I guess you were going fast enough to get some serious hurt if you took a tumble with gimbal in your face!!
Tried to do something similar with two head mounted cameras several years ago but tech was not there.
Might try to repeat with 3D raven side by side rig on a gimbal after seeing this impressive (and daring ;) capture.

Awesome job!! I'm in the ski industry on the east coast and am excited to get the Raven rolling a bit more this winter!

You shot that with a Gimble, .. ON SKIS !!! wow, I would have busted my butt !

dope man.. great work.. on skis at that jeeeeez

Nice work! I live near Jasper and Banff and have been thinking to try something like this. I'm new to RED coming from Sony and have had a lot of luck with the Sony autofocus on a gimbal setup. Is the autofocus useable on the DSMC2 cameras for gimbal work?

Absolutely stunning footage !!!
How long XL batt last at minus temperature?

Thanks Raphael, actually the XL batteries did not really get fazed to much by the colder temps. I would say that I lost perhaps 5-10min of total run time. The temps during the shoot were probably just below freezing. If it were in the negatives I would guess that one might loose 15-20min of runtime. Either way I have really been happy with the XL's, I currently have 4 of them and can shoot for quite awhile on those 4. Plus I really love the ability to charge the XL's though the camera with my vmount bricks and RED battery belt.

All that being said I am no longer running of XL's on the Ronin. Switched over to the DJI dtap adapter, shaves off tons of weight, and is for sure the way to go if you have a DJI gimbal.
