When everyone moves to the dragon chip can you offer the epic setup as a scarlet upgrade?

Example: Epic boards and chip placed in the scarlet box? This way you want have to throw all of those great part away and we can still stay in the game with full 5K slow motion300 fps and everything.

Just a man's dream that can't afford an Epic.

That's a good question. The same question applies to the Red Ones sold in return for Epics.

From the RECON post FAQs

"Can Scarlet-X be upgraded to the new Dragon sensor when it is released?
Yes. However the upgrade will be more expensive than upgrading an EPIC due to the necessity to change several primary boards. There will still be data rate limitations to Scarlet after the upgrade as compared with EPIC."

But I don't think that is what the OP is suggesting. He seems to be proposing that the boards taken from an upgraded Epic be placed into a Scarlet, thereby upgrading the Scarlet to the current Epic. Not sure how much sense that makes - might just be better to switch bodies as well - but I believe that is what is being suggested.

From what I gather, Epic boards can already handle the Dragon chip, its just a matter of changing the sensor only.

Doesn't hurt to ask..I didn't ask about the body because they are only changing the inside of the camera and i didn't know if they would be removing boards and adding new ones since no one has any idea to what the dragon chip will require to run the camera. i don't want another chip that can shoot 5K or 6K with out 24 fps. If you can afford it after buying your scarlet or epic hats off to you...but the broke people still have a dream of trying to keep up with the big dogs and not have the future in our hands for someone else to create a camera that will take us out in 2013. the digital world changes everyday and a rich mans garbage is a poor mans paradise..meaning if giving me the boards from a epic M or X with 300fps slow motion is cheaper than upgrading to the dragon chip that's a deal for me. I don't like to be limited in whatIi buy because I can only afford the low ends.

I believe you are 100% correct with that.
