  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

One Build 16 note...

we need an ASIC that can transcode RED CODE to other formats in greater than real time. maybe they could take the chip they are developing for REDRAY and put that on an add in board we could use. I know thats only for playback. but I'm willing to bet that everybody on here would pay 3k for a board that did greater than real time conversions. I know AJA kinda supports RED now.

Yeah, and those two guys just got called upstairs for extra help. I heard they found a bug in Super Monkey Ball.

Any humor and sarcasm in this post aside, we have to remember Apple does have distinct divisions. There's an iPhone group and there's a distinct group working on FCS and the like. And they're a company that is still growing even 30 years on. When they need more people to work on something, they add them.

I think most of the folks here are very well aware of that, but you have to allow a bit of ranting. Apple had it coming IMO.
 
Maybe, but ranting doesn't solve anything. If You have any serious R&D project and need help from Apple - let me know and I can put You in touch with the right people... PM or E-mail - feel free...

My project was nowhere near as important (arguably as some would say) as RED's and short of free HW I got all the help I needed...
 
I'm working on a drama for the BBC shot on Red. It's the second day and i had a worried call from the post house saying the quick time files were looking dark but the raw files were ok. Thankfully i was pointed to this thread by a fellow red owner so now i can email this link to the producers so that they don't panic.
 
Build 16 Release build will be out in the next couple hours... and cameras will start shipping with it installed.
