After a decade of impressive innovation and development there must be a good reason Red don't offer internal filters.

The motion mount, innovative though it was, is not in daily use.

Time to move on and offer what is now a standard feature in digital cinema cameras.

RED seems to be working on toward allowing more 3rd party companies to create accessories for their products, such as the OMOD. Allowing them to work on other products that only they can do.

Kippertie makes intenral ND filters for the RED.

Well, the current DSMC2 OLPFs communicate to the camera which model they are by contacting one of five metal levers. Maybe, just maybe the levers are hooked into the camera's electronics in a way that the camera could power an adjustable ND OLPF through them.

I am confident that the next Red camera will have internal NDs. I believe that the current body does not allow a retrofit . Everyone wants Global Shutter but there is a great reason reason why Red (and Arri) have not provided this. It really affects DR.

Until then invest in some great NDs and make great films. We need more of those

The good news is that Helium solves one of the big problems with the Motion Mount, the automatic stop of light lost, by being a stop faster. :) But I agree, a true internal ND option would be great.

+1 on internal ND.
