Epic-W 8k Helium is amazing !!!!

all shot at 6k 10:1 compression, slight "s" curve, redgama2, trans-coded to ProRes 4k. edit in final cut pro -x

The Vimeo auto load works on my computer, .. but not on my phone.
The embed video didn't work.
Interesting, .. I added a link.

FYI, iOS devises don't show embedded videos. Always have a link too.

Thanks Bob, .. .. ..

lucky to be able to share, .. thanks for looking

looks good Curtis, was that all standard or lowlight OLPF?

All standard OLPF, .. also did a slight s curve in RCX, .. so I pulled the black side down. There was a bunch more detail in the blacks
but it didn't fit the look I wanted.
I should pull a still without my adjustment and post it, .. I'll do that when I get home later.

Curtis, great stuff. What is it with Redusers and factories test shots? :) Phil Holland, now you...

Curtis, can I request a shot/ test ? I'm waiting for mine, am going to put it on a very, very stressful scenario of both High Speed and beauty shots scenario. In my current Dragon setup, I use mainly these lenses on that particular scenario- all still lenses: The Canon 10-22 3.5 (which vignettes badly at 10 but gets usable at 12) , the Canon 11-22 L (absolutely stunning lens), the Canon 24 1.4L ( my favourite lens for portraits- I love the small distortion of it) and of course the 70-200 2.8 II which is my powerhouse lense to shoot my subjects in high speed (motorsports) .

Would love, specially for the wide angles, to see a test and FOV comparison of them in 8K 2:1, 6K 2:1 and 4K 2:1 which will be the resolutions I will use...

Very specific, I know, but this would make me see if I need to go for the Sigma 8mm 4.5 zoom...

Love the look of the Sigma 18 1.8 zoom you used! It has that signature greenish tint which I'm not a particular fan of, but the rest of it is just stunning- sharp, great DOF.

My god the blacks are really clean at 2500asa it's unreal that this is a RED and not an A7S. I'm shocked

Sergio,

Thanks but I don't think my high contrast little shoot holds a candle to the killer work Phil Holland did.
Two very different looks I think. All I really was trying to show was the clean blacks at 2500 iso
and the 100 fps slow motion at 6K

Kinda up to my neck at the moment and don't know if I'll be able to shoot
a lens test for you any time soon. Also I don't own the glass you requested.

Cheers,

Curtis

No problem Curtis, my request is a bit ridiculous :) Would need for you to actually be in a very, very similar scenario to mine, and have the time to spare!

The images are great and reassuring. Jumping from Epic Dragon to Epic W is not as simple of a jump as going from Epic MX to Dragon, so every bit of new user content shared, experiences, etc is very welcome !

Love the work you do, ... just watched your Formula 3 film. I'm a HUGE racing fan and used to race Formula Ford myself.

Trust me, .. you will just flat out adore the Epic-w and the new Helium sensor. Shoots very nice stuff at 6k for higher frame rates.

This is fantastic news.

Thanks for the upload! Couldn't be any more excited to get ours now.... I'm assuming depth of field is still solid - even with that slight crop in 6K.

Looks perfectly cinematic.

Best!

Thanks Michael,
Yes the 6k crop seems to be perfect. good frame rate for slo-mo,
but still good depth of field.
Im super happy with what the new sensor can do.
Also was very easy to work with on a Mac Pro trashcan, 3.5, 2x D700 gpu.

For outdoor sunlight i still have to test. But i would normally
us ND and run the iso to match the dynamic range i'm after.
The Scarlet-X i have i shot at 320 in sunlight and it's beautiful,
i don't think that will work on Helium but i have not tested yet.

Michael i'd like to have a private discussion with you
on a sepoerate subject from another thread.
Care to email me? curtis@cboggs.com

Nice shooting Curtis, thanks for showing some more of what the Helium can do too.
