RED no longer sells the 5" Red LCD.

I could try to find one used, but I was wondering if there were 3rd party options that could be used. Can you get all the On Screen Display info on an HDMI or SDI monitor? What are the draw backs of using a 3rd party LCD? Does anyone have a recommendation for a 3rd party EVF like Zacuto? Thanks.

From what I know the main drawback would be powering the 3rd party display.

The RED lcd is powered from the lcd port, I'm pretty sure that any other option is going to need either a separate battery source or at least be powered from your bricks.

I think they could because it's a pretty useful tool I'm planning on using with the upcoming +1 Monitor Adaptor

I think Jason is talking about RED no longer making the original 5.6" LCD, not the current 5" Touch LCD used on the Epic and Scarlet....the 5" Touch does not work on the R1MX. The 5.6" does need to be powered from the camera and there is no direct way to power 3rd party monitors from the camera...they either requires batteries or a P-Tap connection. SmallHD, TV Logic and other monitors will work fine, as will the Zacuto EVF, but you have to figure out the power issue.

Yes, I did mean the 5.6" non touch RED LCD. Thanks all for the answers!

I'm thinking of selling my FS100 package to acquire this R1 MX, as a second body to my Scarlet. But as usual, the rub is in the accessories needed!

Lot's of accessories available in the used market...although prices do seem to be on the rise with all the new owners coming into the R1 world...

Hey Tom. Do you know if the menu displays correctly on the SmallHD DP4? They're selling them at good price and the bundle also comes with the P-tap cable.
