  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hello

Does anyone know if its possible, when using the OMOD POE or any OMOD module, to use the motor output for a focus motor and map the control of the motor to the focus wheel on the DSMC2 side handle? Or do you need to add the RT motion thumb wheel to the system?
Would be sure nice to use the wheel on the DSMC2 side handle to control a focus motor.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bob, sorry i didn't understand your reply, it is possible or it isn't to control the focus motor with the DSMC side handle? I do see your point on the tactile side. I'm looking for a hand held solution kind of like the the 2 GDU cowboy handles and would love to use one with the DSMC2 side handle as part of that and control a focus motor. The solutions i've seen with the RT motion thumb wheel attached to the side handle seem a little un ergonomic.

Sorry about that! I clarified my reply above. The thumbwheel is pretty comfortable but there are other options coming from ergocine.com that you might like more.
 
Thanks for the info Bob, I was curious about if the DSMC2 Side Handle and Lattitude can play together, kinda disappointed that they don't. Can you tell us more about the upcoming options form Ergocine? is it just a nice ergo handle that integrates well with existing RT Motion controllers (thumbwheel/rocker) or an all-in-one kinda thing?

I believe they are making their own knob to fit into the wooden grip.

Right now - RTmotion MDR or OMOD w/RT - pushes info (via RCP) TO the camera from it's controller/thumbwheels/etc. - if the firmware is changed to also READ BACK the data FROM the camera - then you could control RT Motion motors via Foolcontrol iOS app - or - the sidehandle.

Right now ... Kris has much bigger fish to fry for NAB :)
