Dear RED TEAM,

Is it possible to get extra OLPF compatible with all lens mounts. That way people like us who only own one Leica lens mount, can install these OLPFs in their EPIC/SCARLETs and will just need to change the mount to the camera, rather than the OLPF and mount, if the other camera does not have the updated QLPF.

Just a thought.

It's not the OLPF you change, just a small frame in front of the OLPF port bushing.

Are you referring to the "OLPF Port Bushing" available for Epic-M and earlier Epic-X & Scarlet cameras that was offered to address internal reflections and light flares behind the mount and in front of the OLPF itself?

That would be up to the camera owner to decide on and take action on. Installing one involves opening up a part of the camera that would void warranty if RED isn't aware of it, this isn't something that should be done to someone else's camera. If there are still cameras out there that didn't take advantage of this offer and still want to, I would suggest the owner contact their Bomb Squad rep and see if it can still be arranged.

I'm unclear on if this upgrade is what is being asked about, since the OLPF port bushing doesn't attach or have anything to do with the lens mount (Leica or otherwise). You can swap RED lens mounts freely regardless of if the RED OLPF port bushing is installed in a particular camera or not.

Like I have an EPIC and a Scarlet, I will be installing the small frame on my EPIC for Leica mount, but when I want install the Leica mount on my Scarlet, I will need to install the small frame on the Scarlet, right? I think i read somewhere on the forum, before the installation manual was provided that, once you install this small frame in the camera for the Leica mount, you can install the PL or the EF mount on it without any issues.

So RED owners with multiple camera and one Leica mount will need this small frame that is compatible with all lens mounts to be installed on thier cameras, so as to avoid spending time in removing the frame from one camera to the other.

You don't need to change the bushing frame for each individual mount... or the OLPF... they stay in the camera forever... When you change a lens mount, you just change the lens mount. It has absolutely nothing to do with the bushing or olpf.

The new OLPF Frame kit that is included with the DSMC Leica-M Mount is also available for purchase separately. This replacement OLPF Frame is compatible with all other DSMC lens mounts. Just need to contact your Bomb Squad rep to assist you with ordering.

Asif, it sounds like you have two cameras and only one OLPF Port Bushing. In which case you just need to request one for your second camera.

Thanks guys, I will be sending Bomb Squad a mail. :-)

Just curious if anyone knows how many self-installs one has to do before being considered a Red Tech OJT? I've installed two OLPFs, 2 antennae, and recently one battery clip for a side handle. If that qualifies as enough OJT, I would like my certificate, please.
