Hi

Newby question here.

I am putting together my order for first Red camera - Epic-X, and trying to build a workable starting point. So my question - is it better to go for the OLD EVF or the Red Touch 5". (I can't afford both right away - I will be getting the Side Handle though).

Thanks for any help on this - appreciate your time.

Thanks Mark, why do you say that ? Keen to learn !

Just personal preference really. I enjoy not having my face smack up next to the camera and find it easier to make adjustments with the touchscreen. However, I use both and the side handle is very quick to use too, sometimes quicker. But it has too many buttons that I keep accidentally hitting and that's annoying, but not a deal-breaker at all. Just different. They both work equally well and I'm sure there will be many who prefer the EVF.

Plus you can share the touchscreen with your AC. A couple of companies make loupes for the touch screen which work well for exterior shooting.

I find the 5" LCD works well for my style of shooting. Whenever I need an EVF, I pop on the Grid 5.0 Viewfinder.

I just bought an Epic myself and decided for a touch screen (the big 9" though) and I'm very happy with the choise. It's very valuable that we can be several people watching the screen at once. Also to be able to operate the menus with a finger is really convinient.

Good luck with your purchase
/Andreas
