Looking for a retro legacy discontinued Phantom camera to play around with for fun/non commercial usage, and not looking to break the bank since its really just a camera for me to mess around with since I am subleasing my Red and want a high speed camera around to play with. I just wanna break a bunch of stuff really slow... Just thought I'd see if I can find anyone out there other then on ebay which has a few time to time, thanks!

bump for slow-motion breaking things...

I already hit him up about it, attempting to get him to send it in for servicing to verify its actually functional but he is being stand offish about it. I'm worried since he's selling it as is, and I so far haven't been able to get anyone from Abel or Vision Research to help me out on what accessories are needed to get a workflow established (I need to buy whatever parts are needed since he only has the body and figure out a way to make it work with my Mac or get a PC, or cinestation or whatever). Its such an old model the Vision site doesn't tell me much. Nor do they have it as one of the models in that nifty aspect ratio to max fps guide. I really am interested in it, but I'd love to know what pieces I need to get it functional and what its max fps is at say 480 by 720, stuff like that.

But that price point is what really gave me hope that I could find a cheap one used that wouldn't interfere with my Red upgrade, which is where the majority of my cash is tied up in. Basically I am just looking to break some stuff in slow motion for a fun reel of sorts and shoot some skateboarding. I find myself always shooting my Red as slow as possible typically for personal usage and as wonderful as the Epic is, I am interested in even higher speed stuff. I really like the Epic since its not bursts though, workflow wise its pretty awesome for shooting skateboarding when you don't know quite how slow the thing might grind or whatever or how far the guy slides in the fall and maybe a Miro or Sony FS700 won't cut it at that moment, so Epic is awesome but not so much when you want stuff in the 4 or 5 figure frame rate range, which is my new interest as of late... So reds are great for sport shooting but I think even higher frame rates would let me get some stuff I just can't get on Reds and I'd like to be able to play with that stuff while not renting for 1,600-3,000 a day. For my usage it just doesn't make sense to rent something high end, I'd rather just buy a used high rate camera and am willing to deal with being limited to SD or HD on it.

I tried requesting high burst rate shots as a feature for DSMC but no one ever got back to me so I don't think any Reds will solve what I am seeking anytime soon... Wish I knew when exactly I was going to upgrade the Red, closure on that would give me the budget awareness to maybe get a better Phantom, but for now I just try to live frugally to satisfy my camera addiction...
