Im trying to figure out how many of the old red parts will work on epic / scarlet.
I didn't buy a EVF for this reason and have been proven correct with the new design. What other parts will work and which need to be re-bought?
If there's a thread on this does any one have a link?

I have many of the same questions. Hopefully RED will soon do an itemized list of what is included, what parts will be included, what parts will be upgradable, pricing, etc.

I do know that they said current batteries will work, but they are doing new ones for the power module, too, as well as one in the handle.

Most parts will work except for things like the red bottom plate and probably other things things that fit directly onto the red body.

I believe it was only the Top Mounts and the bottom plate that won't work, due to their shape. Everything else seems to be good, which is encouraging. I think I'm going to hold off on buying the current EVF, though...

it's been...

it's been...

stated already by Red people : all parts that do not directly depend on the red one body shape (i.e bottom plate, top mount) will adapt to Epic X... Batteries, current red evf, red drive and red cradle should not need to be changed... To me, that makes the Epic move interesting. Much too expensive otherwise.

Yeah, but the new batteries are so much smaller and lighter and the new EVF (had it in my hands at IBC) is way better and smaller, too. So sooner or later, I guess I will go the complete Epic stuff way, despite all the "old" stuff fitting to Epic as well...

I think it might still be a good idea to have a separate battery to balance shoulder mount configs.

I am interested in getting a workable shoulder mounted Epic configuration as well. I would think that being able to use the older batteries on the back would be just the ticket.

Another interesting question: will EPIC accessories work on the RED ONE?

It would be good to start buying EPIC accessories in preparation for the arrival of the camera itself - with the possibility of using them on the RED ONE in the meantime.
