  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Ok seriously, why are Red-related threads being shut down?

I've known Mitch Gross for a very long time, and I have never heard him refer to any product as "Bullshit" ... and that says a lot since he has to sell a lot of "make my DSLR a pro cinema camera" accessories.

(in other words new nothing and made out he did.)

BTW ... knew has a "K" in it.

Final point... and now I'm going to take the thread down. This is the title:

Michael Bay says that Pirates 4 had problems with their Red cameras.

No one has to read a single post to pick up on this FUD... and they have to read many posts to get the truth. Ugh.

Jim

It would be a full time job...

Jim

Have you considered a Sticky on the forum or a page on red.com called something like Debunking the FUD, I don't know if there is enough FUD out there to be worth the effort but who knows.

I only k-new Mitch from reading his posts, and I perceived an anti-RED tone in his posts. Of course he did not blatantly dis RED, but I remember one particular back and forth with the RED Team on this forum where Mitch criticized them for not having the workflow that HE wanted. It seemed like he was winning the argument until it was revealed (and grudgingly confirmed by Mitch) that RED had dispatched members of their team to help him get through the snag he was in. Instead of showing gratitude for that assistance, he demanded RED conform to his agenda.

RED tolerated him for a long time. I guess when he announced on a RED forum that he was now selling Alexas, that was just the last straw. Don't know this for a fact as being the reason... just my observation.

EDIT: The discussion with RED Team members was a couple of years ago, and I'm not entirely certain it was with Mitch. That's my recollection, but I could be wrong. Take that part of my post with a grain of salt. I am certain about the Arri announcement on RED.

Jim ... I'm sincerely sorry if I have contributed to the noise.

I just felt the need to stand up for a really good guy that lacks a voice here.

If Abel could sell Red cameras, I am almost 100% certain that they would in the blink of an eye.

hahahahaha.... Failed english sorry peter... and speed typing.
Lucky for me, I excel in other areas.

Yes, stupid thread, sorry for contributing to the noise also. .
moving on.

Sorry Mitch.

I would actually agree with you, Mark.

I have watched your reel many times. You're an exceptional cinematographer.

However, I don't believe your NAB quotes, and I am quite sure that a Red One camera was not magically set up in the Abel Cine Tech booth in 2008.

FUD can apply to individuals just as easily as it can to companies and cameras.

Ah ... better times indeed.

I certainly don't suggest this as a weekend activity ... However, I firmly believe that we could search all 3,154 posts that Mitch made while on Reduser and you would be hard pressed to find more than someone being inquisitive and contributing their experience as a professional with a strong film background.

I'm not going to entertain an argument, or any further discussion, about Mitch. He is not able to defend himself. Out of respect for him... drop it.

Thanks and have a nice day. Something in the air...

Jim

Moving on.
Sorry REDUSERs, JIM..
