  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OK... REDCINE-X time.

We're writing the MXF files directly in rocketcine now and then redcinex soon.
Direct import and doing the final tweaking to get it ready for release.

Yup.. Deanan is wrapping it up and then it will be merged to REDCINE-X hopefully later next month.

Thank you Deanan and Jarred :)

P.S. The ability to speak to the team at the coal face of this film industrial revolution is great! Thanks for all the hard work.

How can I post after those last two?

Just a few things about the program. It's hard what to know what to talk about since it's still in alpha. I find the timeline to be a little confusing with the still frames making up the clip. Maybe there is a way to distinguish between the clips that are not selected, like having light and dark gray bars underneath like in redcine. I would also like to be able to toggle the timeline into a traditional bar system as well as turn off the expanding clip function in the browser. It seems as though each R3D file shows up separately even though they are part of a single clip. It would be great to have them show as a single unit. And last, could copy and paste be command C and command P instead of a 3 button combo?

I didn't talk about the stuff I liked, like how you could see all the red clips on a single drive in the browser as well as many other things, because this thread is too long as it is. It's just really great to talk to the coal face of Red software design!

Can we put in a request now while it's still very embryonic for overbrights and negative blacks to be maintained in EXRs (unclamped) after color processing.

Also any chance of implementing the EXR spec for cropping? So that EXR contains the full 4k 2:1 or 3:2 but specifies the REDCineX Crop settings? Then we can do things like blurs and motion tracking while getting the exact crop desired by the DP/Editor?

Doubleclicking the sliders

Doubleclicking the sliders

This might be in the works or has been covered, but how about adding a doubleclick on the slider to make it return to default value? It just saves time when experimenting with an image.

This looks very promising

This question would probably better be asked in the Redcine-X section of the forum, rather than dragging a three month old thread back up...
