  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OK... REDCINE-X time.

Hi,

I have a problem to report. When I select Prores 4444 as the output codec the resulting file renders BLACK FRAMES. The same file renders correctly our of RR, but not out of Color which is giving me the pink and green garbage renders.

Is there an official reporting thread yet?

Alpha build. Give us a minute...

Was this covered already:

Simple item. in redcine i can copy a look and then apply/paste it to other shots. I see there are presets on the curve, but i'm hoping to copy WB/Tint/curve saturation and other settings to my next group of shots.

if i missed it, then forgive....

also, did not see a lot of action with presets in curve. can i program those to my liking then reset to factory in later build?

Just hold your settings until the curve points glow...

Thanks Jim,

I did forget to mention how impressed I am with the look and intuitive interface. Very nice machine and one can tell (like all things RED) it's well thought out. It is/will be a great free addition.

Oh. Thanks again for making it free!

I know you guys love feedback so I was offing it up.

Peace.
David

Oh, Yeah. I'm doing all this on Snow Leopard. That alone is way to cool. RED is on it!

David

I'm sure the RED Team has already thought of this and maybe are already working on it, but here is something from my wish list: I have two 30" displays. So I drag the playback window to my secondary monitor and stretch it out to fill the screen at 100% 1/2 res........that's SWEET! But that leaves a lot of unused real estate on the main interface screen that I would like to fill up by stretching out the bins and browser windows. Currently they don't resize very far. It would be nice to be able to determine which screen the main interface opens up on and be able to save and recall different layouts. Thanks again for the great tool!

I have a complaint.. I've been using the new REDCine X for an hour.. And it has not made my movie any better.

Wassup with dat?!

When are you guys going to furnish a "movie improvement plug-in" I know a few that could really use it.

Jay

Kidding... I'm a PC guy and will wait patiently... Although FCP is looking better all the time..

Just wanted to drop in a note to remind people this is an Alpha..

We are starting to get support calls regarding REDCINE-X, and I just want to remind everyone there is no support for this "peek behind the curtains" (beyond me and Jim fielding your questions in this thread.)

We love the feedback.. it really helps.. keep posting here and we will keep answering.

There will be a new Alpha build tonight with a couple little (and some big) fixes.

Jarred - this rocks with the "Pocket Rocket"! Top of the line 17" MBP with SSD and "PR" - this is truly insane! I thought I would get some sleep after arriving back in Mexico, but now I have to try this on the big daddy with the SXRD...

Will report back...

:D Peter

Pocket Rocket? Now you're just teasing...

OT but did you manage to put those prototype pics up in the other thread?

OK guys and gals.. here is Alpha 2:

Here is the list of the latest with the following fixes and adds:

· Added a Copy Grade/Paste Grade option to the application menu. You can go to Edit/Copy Grade or ctrl/apple C to copy the color grade settings for the clip you have your scrubber on. Then you can click on another clip and either Edit/Paste Grade or ctrl/apple V to paste the settings.

· Fixed losing Rocket support after playing with video controls or making color setting changes.
· Made timeline a moveable window and cut down the extra space on the bottom.
· Added a scrollbar at the bottom of the Timeline.
· You can move scrubber now by clicking on time instead of clips so you can make changes to other clips, but keep your scrubber in the same spot if wanted.
· Added tool tips to all the buttons on the video player.
· Dragging clips off the timeline crashing issue fixed.
· Fixed the video player window resizing bug a reduser mentioned.
· Curve presets are saved beyond application level now. You can exit application and go back in.. and last stored presets are loaded.
· H.264 export option has been changed to .mov
· Increased audio clip loading speed

Thanks for letting us play with the new build of the alpha version- looks like things are progressing well. :)
