Hi.

I just wanted to publicly thank Dan Duran from RED and Cail from inspiration studios and Blue Post in Melbourne and Lemac who supplied our camera package.

I've just wrapped a primetime Network TV series, OFFSPRING and between them all they made it happen and ensured we delivered a great TV drama series that had to be turned around so fast it was on air while we were still shooting.

We had one file corruption on a drive that Dan from RED was able to somehow recover aside from a few corrupted frames before action.

All in all, an amazing result considering the amount of footage we shot, all on location in the middle of a Melbourne winter.

Most TV drama in Australia is almost exclusively shot with 2/3" cameras and there's a lot of resistance to using data based cameras like RED.

So big thanks to these guys for delivering on the promises *I* had to make to swing the production to choose RED.

You can check out OFFSPRING here, and note the pilot was shot F900.

John, checked out the previews of each episode on itunes. Looks very nice. Great job!

Were you able to come to terms with the new exposure system in recent builds or did you go back to Mysterium and Build 21?

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Steve, thanks.....

We went with build 30 and non MX cameras. At the time we started, we couldn't get enough MX cameras. We did occasionally have an MX body for special occasions. We also shot with a fair bit of 5D as well.

The zebra is still *broken* and I guess made do with the other excellent exposure tools...but....you know my views on that....

Hey John, Offspring is fantastic! Nice to see proper production values for a change on Aussie TV. The bar is being raised and let's hope it sticks.

I'm in network meetings next week for my pilot, shot In 3D Red on Master Primes because we're insane, so hopefully we will see more Red on network TV soon.

All the best,

Jim

I admire the ambition Jim, but good luck getting anyone to pay for 3D production in Australia !

I heard that the test football 3D broadcasts were a bit of a flop. And sports trumps drama usually for demand...
