Ok, I've got a shoot starting Saturday where we'll be trying to edit as we go. Is there any reason we couldn't convert r3d to 1K Prores, edit in FCP and then Export the EDL and import that into Premiere and relink the media to R3D files? Then do a 2k out from there?

We'll start shooting before the Adobe plug is released, but it sure sounds like that will be the best workflow if it's not buggy so I'd like to migrate to it.

Does this make any sense? (this would be all on the same Mac)

This workflow works pretty well for me. I received a FCP XML, replaced the "_M.mov" by ".001.R3D" in a text editor and imported it in Premiere. I had to replace somo footages (Link Media didn't work) and voila! I had a online timeline in Premiere.
ThenI imported Premiere project in After Effects, did the color management tweaks and exported OpenEXR files for VFX and JPG proxies.
All worked incredibly fine"

Hello.
Has anyone ever tried the other way round? Offline in Premiere and Online in Final Cut?

Regards!

Yesterday I tried the same workflow:
-Export XML from FCP
-Relink the XML to XML ( R3D ) Clipfinder
-Import XML ( R3D ) on Premiere CS4
- From timeline 2K settings send to AFCS4
- On AF CS4 grading

Very important, don´t forget enable 32 bit color.

Thanks

plz i need help.

Hi, I'm not having much success.

this is what I'm doing:

1) I export an FCP XML
2) Import it into Clipfinder, and run the conform feature
3) Import into Adobe Premiere CS4.

As soon as the files appear in premiere, if I click on the timeline, or the project windows, or anything, the software crashes.

I've tried importing, saving, closing down and reopening the project, but the project won't even load.

PLEEEEASE help!

I just did a project (on DVCProHD, Not Red) rough cut in Final Cut. Automatic Duck to After Effects CS4, Once the project is created in After Effects, You can create a Premiere project in AE. Open Premiere and open the project created in After Effects and do all tweaks from there. Not one glitch.

The XML process is supposed to work, but I bought into Automatic Duck AE Import early on and it has never failed me.

Also, Don't know how it will work with Red, but Premiere has Red support.

I had similar problems a couple of months ago and it had something to do with the order in which the RED plugin and the Premiere CS4.1 upgrade had been made. For the life of me now, I can't remember which had to be installed first, but I had found the info on the adobe website.
