  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Official Post Your DSLR Still Photography Thread

Very cools stuff you do, folks, as always!! Me likey likey.

Today i had some fun trying improvised extreme macro photography (manual 50mm lens backwards, hand held, the lens hood doubled as an extension tube)... oh, except that the first shot of spittlebugs was with 200mm lens and +4 achromat. All the subjects in these shots are much less than half an inch across.

Just an iPhone shot of my 5D2 in action last night at the Ancient Bristlecone Forest in the White Mountains of California. This was the second night in a row I got rainbows!

Wadjamarly Wadjamarley we come in peace

Tribal elders final resting place in the Kimberley Western Australia
formally wrapped in Paper bark...later the bones are painted with ochre

I felt privileged to view him, this is an extremely remote area that once thrived with Aborigines, the artwork nearby is considered the oldest form of rock painting in Australia, if not the whole planet. Took a total of 4 aeroplanes a chopper and a boat to get to this place

Part of a timelapse sequence shot about a week ago.

Star party at Yosemite on Saturday night.

More Yosemite:

That was part of a panning timelapse taken with my new 16-35II lens, which I'm really loving.

Yosemite at 4AM. This was a frame near the end of a long pan across the entire valley, shot with the EF 16-35II.

Bristlecone in the moonlight. I froze my ass off to get this shot, part of a 650-frame dolly timelapse sequence. Temps got down to 19 degrees F, in August!

Beautiful Tom, some other stills you've posted have been, albeit wonderful, a little soft, but this is sharp enough that you can enjoy the texture on the tree...

I froze my ass off to get this shot, part of a 650-frame dolly timelapse sequence. Temps got down to 19 degrees F, in August!

Nothing a couple of six packs can't remedy I hope?

That is a stunningly beautiful shot Tom:thumbup1:

haha, even if I had beer with me, the can would have frozen solid before I could even crack it. :hand:

i tried pulling out my cot and sleeping bag, but soon fled into my car and cranked the heater all night.

been a while since I checked out this thread; now I know where to go for inspiration. Thanks guys!

Sacrilege I know these were shot on film, I use a D200 from time to time but am still rolling film through my SLR.

I love this thread! So many talented artists across all sorts of photographic streams.

Here's a few from me using my new (second hand) Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS USM lens I bought recently and got calibrated by Canon to be spot on. Looks like they succeeded!!

All there were taken with the 70-200mm lens. I added some extension tubes to get the macro shots. I LOVE how sharp this lens is!! And the bokeh is just gorgeous....

Cheers from Japan!
