Had a great vacation at the Biltmore in NC this past week... was able to take the camera out for some shooting. All with 5d2 and 24-105 L. ( amazing how pretty the bokeh is for a F4 lens.... I did not think this lens would be all that great compared to my fast primes, but it is pretty good )

A different (and better IMHO) perspective on the previous picture, plus a new one:

deepc0re, love the aged look you've given your photo! Nice one!

Enjoy,

I'm a nooby here, great site people

Welcome, Vince! How do you time shots like those?

Here's one frame from a timelapse from Joshua Tree this winter:

The first shot I fluked leaning against a verandah post on "bulb". Usually I have a cable release on tripod, cam on bulb and count 30 sec shots max if nothing has happened in 30 secs I'll try again, ultimately you want the lightning to occur as soon as the shutter is opened and then close it straight after. I live out in the bush and find the best shots are taken in complete darkness with no stray light from any other source. If you have other light sources (sunrise like the first shot) hitting the sensor then maybe count no more than 10 sec shots. Some people doing a long exposure (non bulb) put their hand over the lens straight after the strike to eliminate any more light hitting the sensor until exposure has finished....hope this helps :)

I'm guessing distances here :first shot 200mtrs....second shot 400mtrs from camera

Thanks, Vince. I will keep those tips in mind.

Took this in Vegas a couple days ago. This ride dangles the riders 800 feet over the Las Vegas strip. I got some 5D2 video. WTF.

Something I've been working on for a couple of weeks now. It's pretty much done. I think I'll add back the Coca Cola lines into their sign, the bottom one in the middle.

My photos.

I can see a TV advert idea making it's way into a creative directors head from this shot. And he will say it's his original idea. :)
