  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Official Post Your DSLR Still Photography Thread

I made a trip to Southern Honduras last weekend and just couldn't help but take these two with me. I recognize these are an amateur effort at best...

Very nice shots Austin. Bet you like being able to experiment at what must feel like warp speed compared to shooting MF.

Thanks, Roberto. I've certainly shot digitally before, it was just always borrowed. Staying with film for so long has trained me to really take my time, almost to a fault!

Nice Austin!

Thank you! The positive comments these 4 pictures have gotten in very encouraging, considering the people on this board that have made the comments. I'm flattered that you guys like them.

While I'm at it, here's another from the same day:

These are certainly not amateur! The second is my favorite. I like the expression on the boy's face. It's a great moment to capture.

Thanks, Austin. Relatively new to photography so your encouragement/compliment means a lot.

I love trying to capture these type of moments where something besides the obvious is present in the eyes of the subjects.

Girlfriend turns 40 next month
I know its mainstream pixels but I like her a lot.
Last pic I took 5 minutes after I stood naked in my kitchen and saw the end wall disaper, didnt take long before I could hear the 24/7 news helicopter swarming the area while I walked around the rubble picking up bits and pieces.

Some different looks from the previous post. The male model in the last photo is Sebastiano Serafini.

Final lot of photos of Maya. Taken at sunset from the 38th floor of the Hilton Hotel, Tokyo.

BTW all these photos (including the two posts above) were taken with my Canon 5D MkII and the EF50mm f/1.2L USM prime lens, wide open. Love this combo!!

Enjoy....

One final photo, this time of TV personality Janica Sims. I really love the flare here (shot to deliberately catch it)!

EXIF info for this and all other photos are embedded in the images themselves if you want full shooting specs.

Comments and criticisms welcome for any of the photos above.

Cheers from Tokyo!

Paul :)

I like the last one Paul. Love it when you can get flares in to right place and complete or add to the composition, especially when their colors work. Perhaps the green could be a little bit more subdued, but I like the photo. Good job.
