  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Official Post Your DSLR Still Photography Thread

Tom, love the latest pics! I can only imagine what they look like in timelapse mode...

Here's a few more I've taken recently:

All shot with my Canon 40D, going strong now for two years. I'm wondering if I should upgrade to the 7D or not....

Paul, love the first of the new ones you just posted. What lens did you use?

Also liked your fourth. It wouldn't be the same without the noise. Was the noise in camera or added in post? Probably a weird question to ask but it really works for me.

If all goes well I will be getting a 7d, my first DSLR. Do it! Unless you can save up and get a FF35 or even S35 Epic instead. :)

This is a Spiny Crab I photographed for a marine biologist bloke writing a book on crustaceans..my third contribution to his new book...shot straight from a hand held 350D with no alterations, no photoshop, as was taken using sunlight and no flash :

Hi Roberto, thanks for the compliments :)

To answer your questions, all except "Perspective" were shot with my EF70-200mm f2.8L IS USM lens, handheld. "Perspective" was shot with my EF-S10-22mm lens at 10mm.

I did indeed add a noise profile to number four ;) I totally agree that without it, it wouldn't have the same look and feel.

Noise isn't inherently bad per se, it's just that it should be a creative choice, not forced upon you by an inferior sensor. That's why I always say that if you start with a clean, sharp, well exposed image, then in post anything is possible.... I shoot Red the same way.

Incidentally all my photos have the EXIF tags embedded in them so you can always see what they were shot with and what settings I used.

Cheers,

Paul

P.S. Epic-X is definitely in my future.... ;)

Here's a few from me this month:

hehe... I lol'd at the last one!

Lol. Obviously if he's pulling moves like that!

Where do you live Eren? India?

HERE's a video of their first performance on Britain's Got Talent.

No Tom, though I've been tempted to hop over when working in Hong Kong or Taiwan.
I'm based in London but the work takes me around.

The photos are from an event called simply star put on by an asian TV network in London. I was hired to direct the behind the scenes programme and do some promotional stills. A hectic two days juggling the two around. I guess I'm a young DSMC shooter all the way through :) Now all I need is the Scarlet.

Ever thought of travelling to Europe to do some Timelapse filming? I've learnt a great deal from your site. A lot of timelapses in the show I just shot thanks to you.
