  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Official Post Your DSLR Still Photography Thread

shot this today, off the cuff, in between the actual shoot. Canon 5D Mark II, 85mm prime lens, all mostly at f1.8. No color correction. Straight out of the camera.

Eren, that's a great shot of the old man and dog.

It's Hanami time again (cherry blossoms blooming)!

Here's a few I took tonight using the Canon 85/1.2L and 50/1.2L lenses on my 40D:

I love the interferometry bokeh on the second image between the flower and the light source behind it!

Cheers,

Paul

....and I know this is technically cheating for this thread, but here's a couple of stills taken from Red footage I shot today also, showing the stunning sharpness of the Canon EF 100/2 prime lens attached via the Birger mount.

Only processed using RedCine. Shot with build 17 at 23.98fps 1/50th shutter.

You can click on these to see them in full 16bit 4K as PNG files (17MB each):

Man, I can't wait for Epic/Scarlet so I can walk around easily with something that looks like a DSLR but shoots motion images with greater DR and higher pixel count than these images!!

Cheers,

Paul

Hey, I posted pictures of beautiful women a few pages back to little response.

Looks like people dig old men around here

Thanks for the comment F.G, much appreciated.

I like the second shot with the tree, JNFilms.

Here's one from Valley of Fire a couple weeks ago:

By the way, I actually ran into one of my heroes while I was there - Wally Pacholka!! It was seriously awesome to meet him in person.

great photography dude

lol gang, thanks. so are we buddies again? :)

You've had your fans among the gang, as well. :)

BTW, that picture is a step ahead of being called a digital still. :-)

Emanuel, you're not one of these "gang" members are you? :yikes:

Tom, love the last picture.

Have you thought about bringing lights? With such sensitivity you might be able to use to paint on a whole mountain side like that, or is that too big still? I know you are all about natural light, just saying that you could compliment in a small way what the moon and the night sky are doing already. And I am curious as to how small of lights you could do it with for something as large as that "hill".

wait... those shadows on the holes of the rock mean you did... right? tungsten?

was it your car from really far away or a production light?

hehe... this particular shot was lit up by a car driving by. ;)
