Hey,

Fair warning, I'm running a hackintosh so all bets are off (I'm entirely aware of how suicidal this is, that's not the point). Still, any input would be appreciated.

I had a very stable build running OSX 10.6.4 on an Intel DH55DD board and a Core i3 cpu. Video card a EVGA GTS250. Everything ran flawlessly. RedCineX was a great performer, the whole shebang.

Now... I bought a RedRocket due to a good opportunity coming my way. Unexpected and unplanned for. I needed extra PCIe 16x slots to shove the card in and upgraded to the Asus P7P55 WS. Wicked board. The Rocket? Completely awesome.

Now, my problem is that since I swapped boards, everything works as before, but RedCineX stalls and crashes as soon as soon as I press play. Rocket on, Rocket off, build 351 or earlier : all the same. It just crashes. I can't seem to figure why.

It's so odd. I can color, change settings. The picture reacts as expecter. Histograms work. I can scrub, change resolutions (didn't try monitor out on the Rocket though, don't have a decent monitor yet.). I can even render. I suspect my video card is acting up, but it used to work before I swapped motherboards.

Any kind of input would be welcome. I can provide my crash log if it can help.

Alexis.

my windows 7 system experiences the same issue. i had determined that it was a graphics card openGL compatibility issue, but that could be a wrong diagnosis.

Did I mention Foundry Storm works just fine too?

Oh yeah and on Windows 7 x64 it refuses to show any picture at all. Clips dont appear in the browser and thus can't be dragged in the viewer.

Oh, and for added weirdness on the OSX version, the clips will play in the browser, but not in the main viewer...

Hiya,

Sooo... I setup a new build on another hard drive. OS 10.6.5, updated the Nvidia drivers and it still crashes from build 262 to 351.

I'm at a loss... help anyone?

it's not your hard drive's fault. check what version of openGL your graphics card is compatible with, it needs to be at least 2.1, as i'm aware. your solution will be to buy a graphics card that supports this - i think. email redcinex@red.com with your full system specifications and your problem, they could tell you if it might be something other than the graphics card, but i think not.

I would make sure your rocket firmware and drivers were up to date (on both systems)

I have a hackintosh and a rocket combo that took a little while to get working. At first it had symptoms exactly how you described. I'm still not to positive exactly what fixed it, but using Custombeast did it. I wish I knew what change it applied that made it works but now it does.

I also have a 285.

I'm pretty sure it's not my video card (which does OpenGL 2.1) as it worked on my previous motherboard just fine. Nevertheless just realised I get this other odd bug : Quicktime X will not play either. Same deal, I can scrub, I can see picture (CI and QE are working just fine by the way), but playing just doesn't work. It the button goes in a flash from play to pause to play.

Custombeast sounds delicious (going DSDT all the way would ROCK!) but as far as I know it's only for Gigabyte motherboards. I'll definitely investigate though...

I'll doublecheck about those Rocket drivers, but again, I got the when the Rocket wasn't in my system too. And again, the Rocket support in Foundry Storm works just fine! (?!?)

EDIT : It's official, reverting to Rocket firmware 1.1.8.6 and build 348 had no effect. It still crashes when I click play.
EDIT 2 : For the interested, I opened a thread on tonymacx86's forum about it.
