I just spotted some beautifull footage from this new undewater film on Euro tv news. They showed some interesting stabilizing camera crane too.

Beautiful work for sure...and expensive to produce. I notice in the translation voice over that their production budget was 50 million euros...a rather fat budget for a nature film! Its great to see the market realizing that wildlife and nature films can deserve good budgets - and can do quite well at the box office too (March of the Penguins, etc.)

I expect this film to be extraordinary...

Fascinating!!

Pretty expensive!!!

Also a lot of dollies and cranes on the beach, even one on the inflatable PVC "gummy" boat, diverse Arri film cameras with Angenieux Optimo zooms, remote controlled helicopters with a camera on, etc...

Spent some time on a ship with "Didier Noirot", one of the main underwater cameramen for "Oceans" while I was filming in Antarctica last year. Didier was Jacque Cousteau's cameraman for a long time. He was with a team filming for an upcoming BBC series called "Frozen Planet", a follow up to "Planet Earth" Wouldn't be surprised if the budget for that series is even more than 50 million euros.

Beautiful work by Didier...thanks for sharing that Steve

Yes..intense stuff! I remember seeing a lot of that same bait ball footage in a program on Discovery Channel. It was shot off South Africa...
