  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Oakley sure knows how to do it!

A little afternoon carnage over at the Oakley playground today. Is that a shoulder mounted Red camera I see at the top of a couple of the photos? Ricky? Cannons? Tanks? Competitors getting smashed? Check, Check, Check, Check!

wtf is this? what's the oakley playground?

TG don't use 35mm adapters.

I've seen lots of shots over the years on Top Gear that have all the hallmarks of a lens adapter. I know what I'm looking at as I've owned a number of adapters over the years, I'm also well acquainted with all the post they use. However, I've also read quite a few counter claims about the use of adapters on TG and have often wondered if that is just a ruse because they are not BBC spec. I'm not saying you're wrong but what makes you so sure you're are right?

Sorry, I just realised that my post was a little definitive. It really should have been prefixed by "As far as I am aware".

Certainly the camera's I have seen in use on TG don't have 35mm adapters fitted (This was when it was shot on digibeta). That being said, this was all studio stuff. When asked, people always seem to say that the film look is achieved in post (Magic Bullet IIRC), and with a lot of in camera & filter work.

TG has always used lots of heavy post techniques; grading, grads, etc, but I'd say they have also used adapters - not on the studio stuff but the inserts.

See what you think:

Anyhow, I'd have thought RED would be the perfect camera for shooting this type of stuff.

Holy crap!!! Since when does Oakley have a fully functional tank?
